Assist project biologist or crew lead in collecting recording and entering biological data into spreadsheets and upload into databases. Work occurs in field hatchery and office settings and includes caring for juvenile and adult fish during trapping handling tagging transporting and tracking. Must be in good physical shape as REDD count hikes and rotary screw trap installation/maintenance/operation and other work often occurs in steep terrain and hot/cold weather. Must be flexible in scheduling work day and night work weekends and holidays potential for long work days in all weather conditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required and the successful applicant must arrive to work punctually. Valid Oregon Drivers license and must successfully pass a background check drug test and be insurable for driving by the tribes. Must have a B.S. Degree in fisheries or similar field of study and a year of related work experience. The successful candidate will have experience with fish identification; radiotelemetry techniques including running equipment/tagging/tracking; rotary screw traps; adult/juvenile fish PIT tagging; and conducting spawning ground surveys. Successful candidate will also have a high level of attention to detail and will excel at data QA/QC.
