DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategically manage logistics and procurement functions in alignment with the plants goals and objectives.
2. Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization.
3. Implement proper work procedures prepare work schedules and expedite workflow of the logistics and procurement sections.
4. Initiate coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
5. Adhere to all related legislation and/or regulatory requirements.
6. Prepare reports on applicable metrics to the organization.
7. Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Supply Chain & Logistics Management Expertise in handling coal transportation storage and distribution efficiently.
- Inventory & Warehouse Management Ensuring proper stock levels FIFO/LIFO methods and optimal space utilization for coal storage.
- Procurement & Vendor Management Managing contracts negotiations and relationships with coal suppliers transporters and thirdparty vendors.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety Standards Knowledge of environmental regulations coal handling safety protocols and hazardous material handling guidelines.
- Transportation & Fleet Management Overseeing truck rail and port logistics for coal deliveries while optimizing costs and timelines.
- Operational Efficiency & Cost Optimization Reducing supply chain costs through strategic planning and process improvements.
- IT & Data Management Proficiency in ERP systems SAP and logistics software for tracking coal shipments inventory and supply chain analytics.
- Quality Control & Inspection Ensuring coal quality meets plant specifications and handling deviations efficiently.
- Crisis & Risk Management Addressing supply chain disruptions weather impacts and emergency response planning for coal logistics.
- Communication & Coordination Collaborating with internal teams (procurement production maintenance) and external stakeholders (suppliers transporters regulatory bodies).
Educational & Work Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management Business Administration Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Masters Degree (Preferred) in Logistics Operations Management or Business Administration (MBA).
- 5 years of experience in logistics supply chain or warehouse management preferably in the coal mining power generation or heavy industries.
- Proven experience in managing coal transportation procurement inventory and distribution operations.
- Strong knowledge of bulk material handling port operations and multimodal transportation (rail truck barge etc.).
- Experience in vendor and contract management including negotiations with coal suppliers and transporters.
- Expertise in regulatory compliance related to coal handling environmental standards and safety protocols.
- Handson experience with ERP systems (SAP Oracle etc.) for logistics and inventory tracking.
- Demonstrated leadership in optimizing costs reducing downtime and improving supply chain efficiency.
- Experience in managing teams coordinating with crossfunctional departments and ensuring seamless operations.
