Job Description

Job Role: GDOT IT Apps Development Lead (758073)
Location: One Georgia Center 600 West Peachtree NW Atlanta Georgia Hybrid
Duration: 3 Months Contract with Possible to Extend
Direct Client: State of GA
Interview Type: Either Web Cam or In Person

Under limited supervision ensure the Georgia Department of Transportations (GDOT) applications operate effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising guiding and instructing the daytoday operations of the staff. Ensures stated services and efficiency goals are met. Serves as a highlevel subject matter expert providing authoritative guidance for professional staff and supporting the software life cycle for the agencys applications emphasizing activities and task prioritization.
This position will manage a team of 810 software engineers responsible for developing new applications and providing modifications for existing applications.
While the intent may be a longterm tenure this position is subject to annual budget restrictions. The initial contract is through the end of this fiscal year and is anticipated to be renewed July 1st 2025.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of IT consultants/staff by providing guidance support and training as needed.
Monitor and analyze the performance of the IT team ensuring that all coding practices and end product produced are up to standard.
Develop and implement best practices to ensure our IT enterprise applications are supportable and
maintainable.
Work with architects to ensure software design is being properly implemented
Evaluate and recommend software solutions to improve the quality of GDOTs IT enterprise
applications.
Work with project managers on management and implementation of development during the entire project life cycle.
Coordinate and troubleshoot technical issues and guide the IT team in resolving complex technical problems.
Interview candidates and hire qualified individuals to fill open roles within the department
Generates daily weekly and monthly reports requested by both internal and external clients and GDOT IT Management
Develops and mentor staff to a high level of competency
Handles issues of a highly technical nature
Monitors staff performance and schedule adherence to improve efficiencies identify training opportunities and ensure proper coverage.
Remains current on internal procedures and external client requirements

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Information Technology or a related field
Technical certifications preferred
Five (5) years of experience in an IT management role IT technical lead role or Project management role
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience supervising or leading a support team
Experience in custom applications or Experience with customization in Commercialofftheshelf (COTS) products
Developed applications in .NET technologies with Kendo UI Telerik C#.net Web API REST API JSON SQL Server Oracle XML HTML5 Angular JS
Experience with ServiceNow ITSM
Experience Work with products management tools such as MS Visual Studio Team (TFS) server using Agile (SCRUM)
Ability to resolve issues and exhibit strong initiative
Excellent planning training and followup skills and analytical abilities
Strong problemsolving and analytical abilities.
Strong project management and leadership skills.
Work Terms and Conditions:
8 Hour workdays on a fixed schedule (i.e. not a flexschedule) starting no earlier than 7:00AM Eastern Time starting no later than 9:00AM Eastern Time Monday Friday 40 hours per week
GDOT has NOT specified a number of days onsite vs remote. However local candidates (i.e. able to come in office) will be preferred over an out of state candidates (i.e. remote worker). GDOT prefers candidates who can demonstrate they have the capability to work a hybrid work schedule which is a combination of remote and inoffice work. Candidate capacity (i.e. days they could come into the office) to work a hybrid work schedule will be discussed during interviews.
The consultant will follow all applicable State of Georgia and GDOT policies procedures standards guidelines and accepted best practices.
The position end date is set for the end of the GDOT Fiscal Year. GDOT may exercise the option to renew contracts in oneyear increments. Several successful consultants have continued working for several years with contract extensions. However GDOT is under no obligation to extend contracts and may terminate employment at any time.
When teleworking or working remotely consultant must have suitable internet connection and environment to comply with GDOT telework policies.
GDOT will reimburse authorized travel expense lodging and meals. GDOT will reimburse authorized travel use of a personal vehicle. Any travel expenses to start work or relocate to Georgia or will not be reimbursed. All travel expense reimbursement shall be in accordance with State Accounting Office Travel Policy:
The Department has 13 holidays which consultants are not allowed to work nor make up any time for those holiday weeks without managements approval. Consultants are not to take extended leave during their first year of service (e.g. greater than 1week).
Consultant must have cell phone which can be used for business calls.
GDOT does not provide free parking. All routine commuting expenses are the responsibility of the consultant.
