Job Description

A thriving primary school in Brent is seeking a highly skilled and passionate SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join their team on a permanent fulltime basis. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop the schools SEN provision and make a significant impact on the educational experience and progress of students with special educational needs.

The Role:

  • Lead and manage the SEN provision across the school ensuring that all students with special educational needs receive highquality targeted support.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and interventions tailored to meet the needs of students with a wide range of SEN.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers support staff and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support for SEN students.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices for supporting children with additional needs promoting a culture of inclusion.
  • Monitor the progress of SEN students ensuring they are making good academic and personal progress and implement strategies to address any gaps.
  • Oversee the SEN budget ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize student outcomes.
  • Lead on the development of the schools SEN policy and ensure that all legal requirements and regulations are met.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a SENCO qualification (or a commitment to complete this within a set time).
  • Previous experience working as a SENCO or in a role with significant involvement in supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN strategies interventions and best practices to support students with a variety of needs.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and support a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff parents and external professionals.
  • A deep commitment to inclusive education with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
