Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Engineering Specialist with expertise in Health & Safety and Maintenance to join our hotel team. This role ensures the efficient operation safety and maintenance of the hotel facilities while complying with local health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background experience in workplace safety and a handson approach to problemsolving.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Health & Safety Compliance
- Develop implement and monitor health and safety programs to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections risk assessments and audits across the property.
- Train staff on safety protocols emergency response procedures and hazard prevention.
- Maintain records of safety incidents and recommend improvements.
2.Maintenance Management
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for all hotel systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure timely repairs and minimal downtime.
- Develop and maintain a maintenance schedule to ensure optimal operation of equipment.
- Monitor and manage energy consumption and environmental practices to enhance efficiency.
3.Property Management & Upkeep
- Ensure that all guest rooms public areas and backofhouse spaces are wellmaintained.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize disruptions to guest services.
- Participate in renovation or refurbishment projects as needed.
4.Emergency & Incident Management
- Lead and coordinate response efforts during emergencies including fires power outages or other critical incidents.
- Ensure the hotels safety equipment such as fire alarms and extinguishers is regularly inspected and operational.
5.Reporting & Budget Management
- Prepare reports on maintenance activities costs and compliance with safety standards.
- Manage maintenance budgets and ensure costeffective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree or technical certification in Engineering Occupational Safety Facilities Management or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 35 years in a similar role preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
- Handson experience with maintenance systems (HVAC electrical plumbing etc.).
- Excellent problemsolving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Certifications: Health & Safety certifications (e.g. OSHA NEBOSH) and technical certifications are a plus.
