Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

Our client a wellestablished commercial bank has embarked on a robust growth strategy and is looking for a dynamic highly creative and technology savvy proactive Kenyan professional with strong credentials and relevant work experience to fill the position of Head of Information Technology to be stationed at its Head Office.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership strategic direction and operational management for the Bank s IT functions. He/She will ensure that technology initiatives are aligned with the banks strategic objectives and manage the team of IT professionals including software developers system administrators network engineers and other technical staff.

Main Duties:

To develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the banks business objectives and supports its growth plans.

To lead a consolidated team of Technology Operations including Core Banking Operations Service Desk Application Support IT Operations and End User Device Support.

To direct and manage the implementation maintenance and enhancement of the monitoring systems and tools including necessary hardware (H/W) software (S/W) and network infrastructure to enable the use of appropriate platform technology as an integral and reliable component of business processes within the country. Drive convergence of technologies ensure delivery of technology projects and liaise and negotiate with internal customers and technology vendors.

Manage the IT budget and ensure that resources are allocated effectively to meet the banks strategic goals.

Work with business leaders and other stakeholders to identify and priorities IT initiatives that will improve the banks operational efficiency customer experience and competitive advantage.

Oversee the implementation of technology projects including system upgrades new software and hardware implementations and data centre migrations.

Ensure that the banks technology infrastructure is secure reliable and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.

Monitor and manage IT risk including cyber threats data breaches and other security incidents.

Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT organization encouraging experimentation and the adoption of new technologies.

Build and maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure that the bank has access to the latest technological solutions and support.

Lead coach and develop a team of IT professionals providing guidance feedback and performance evaluations.

Represent the banks IT function to external stakeholders including customers regulators and industry groups.



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field.

Master s degree is an added advantage.

At least 10 years of experience in IT management roles within similar sized Bank or financial services institution with a track record of driving digital transformation.

Hands on experience in key IT operations functions.

At least 4 years experience in a Senior Leadership role.

At least 3 years experience in leading and sponsoring large change projects

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Leadership skills to nurture and sustain employee satisfaction; and to manage changes

Performance Management skills to optimize employee productivity.

Organization development to effectively structure the IT sections for optimal performance

Knowledge and experience in modern ICT applications and operations management in financial services business to provide visionary guidance on strategic and operations changes.

Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and manage customer expectations (internal and external) and other stakeholders who impact performance.

Deep understanding of banking operations processes and regulatory requirements as well as the technology trends that are shaping the industry.

Experience working with cloudbased technologies data analytics and emerging technologies such as Al and machine learning is a plus.

Knowledge and effective application of all relevant banking policies processes procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated ability team navigate complex organizational structures and collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
