Job Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our Laguna Beach Office. In this position you will be responsible for reviewing and preparing tax returns for highnetworth clients focusing on individuals businesses trusts and estate tax returns. We are committed to promoting worklife balance and are looking for individuals who want to be part of a collaborative team of dedicated professionals. Our firm operates in the cloud and follows a paperless procedure. This position will require working in the office.

Responsibilities:


  • Review and prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals (1040) partnerships (1065) and corporations (1120 and 1120S) income tax returns to satisfy compliance requirements and support effective business/tax planning.
  • Developing tax strategies to assist clients in being taxcompliant
  • Perform budget and cash flow projections.
  • Monitoring developments in tax legislation Informing management and staff of developments in tax legislation
  • Supervising training and mentoring Tax preparer staff
  • Identifying tax problems and developing solutions
  • Use applicable federal state and local tax law to determine deductions and how much each client will pay or earn on the return
  • Complete and file tax documents with appropriate agencies like the IRS state and local government entities
  • Build customer relationships to promote and expand the business



Requirements

Qualifications of the Tax Preparer:

  • Previous experience in public accountant firm preferred (7 years plus)
  • 2 years of management/supervisory experience required
  • Proven track record of exceptional client service and business development
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Strong technical expertise in their practice area
  • A commitment to the firm s growth and success
  • An interest in mentoring and developing junior staff
  • A willingness to invest in the firm s future through a buyin process
  • Experience with major tax preparation software (Lacerte Excel QuickBooks)
Must Have:

  • Current California CPA License or Masters Degree in Tax
  • Proficient in Lacerte Tax Preparation and QuickBooks Software

  • Up to $200K plus bonuses relocation package (if necessary)

Requirements for the Senior Tax Manager for ultra high net worth individuals position typically include: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or JD certification is required. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in tax planning and compliance, with a focus on ultra high net worth individuals. Strong technical knowledge of complex tax laws and regulations, including income tax, gift tax, estate tax, and international tax matters. Experience managing a team of tax professionals and overseeing multiple client engagements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. Strong leadership skills and the ability to provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff. Advanced credentials such as an MST or LLM in taxation are preferred. Knowledge of tax software and tools commonly used in the industry. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with high net worth financial concepts, estate planning strategies, and wealth management principles.
