SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As a Sustainability Specialist you will be essential in advancing and integrating sustainable practices within the organization or across various projects. Your role will involve developing and executing sustainability strategies conducting assessments implementing initiatives and monitoring progress toward sustainability goals. You will work with crossfunctional teams to embed sustainability into business operations enhance environmental performance and promote social responsibility initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices identifying key areas for improvement and setting clear sustainability goals and targets.
• Conduct environmental assessments including life cycle assessments (LCA) carbon footprint analyses and environmental impact assessments (EIA) to identify opportunities for reducing environmental impacts and resource consumption.
• Lead energy management initiatives to increase energy efficiency reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the use of renewable energy sources implementing energy conservation measures and monitoring energy consumption trends.
• Develop and implement waste management programs to minimize waste generation increase recycling rates and promote waste diversion strategies identifying opportunities for waste reduction and reuse.
• Implement water conservation measures and optimize water use efficiency within facilities and operations identifying opportunities for rainwater harvesting greywater reuse and watersaving technologies.
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement policies and practices to promote the use of environmentally friendly products and materials collaborating with suppliers to source sustainable alternatives and reduce the environmental impact of supply chains.
• Engage with internal stakeholders external partners and community members to raise awareness of sustainability issues and foster collaboration on sustainability initiatives building relationships with relevant industry organizations and participating in sustainability networks.
• Prepare sustainability reports and disclosures in accordance with relevant frameworks and standards (e.g. GRI CDP) ensuring compliance with environmental regulations permits and certifications (e.g. LEED ISO 14001).
• Develop and deliver training programs and educational materials to promote sustainability awareness and build capacity among employees and stakeholders providing guidance and support on sustainability best practices.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives through performance metrics and KPIs identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in sustainability practices.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be available to join immediately.
• Must have experience in working for contracting companies.
• Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Sustainability Engineering or related field. Masters degree preferred.
• At least 56 years of experience in sustainability management environmental consulting or related fields.
• Strong understanding of sustainability principles frameworks and standards.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations policies and compliance requirements.
• Experience in conducting environmental assessments and implementing sustainability initiatives.
• Excellent analytical problemsolving and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools and software.
• Certification in sustainability (e.g. LEED AP ISSPCSP) is a plus.
