Describe the Opportunity:
The Essbase Application Team is looking for an experienced customeroriented businessfocused and analytically driven Data Engineer to support the delivery of Essbase operations and project portfolios commitments. The Data Engineer will interface with teams customer and leaders alike to ensure seamless technological support of business process by ensuring the technologies we support are not an inhibitor to the business process for revenue planning budgeting forecasting and actuals at Product Region Segment level for key measures that drive finance success (Revenue TX Count TPV TX Loss TX Expense TX Margin etc.) .
The role will be responsible for supporting global stakeholder departments and working domain leads and data citizens across different GEOs such as Americas EMEA and Asia Pacific. Because the position requires interaction with geographically disbursed teams so the candidate must be a selfstarter with strong engagement and business analysis and comfortable working with distributed teams without direct management oversight day to day.
He/she must be able to contribute to programs/initiatives and collaborate with the financial stakeholders and users as well as internal technology teams to drive alignment around Essbase Application Services and Support for PayPal. These accountabilities will be achieved through developing high trust relationships with internal and external customers critical data analysis attention to detail and a customer focus. Process development and optimization as well as deliverables management will be a focus for the role.
What Youll Take On
Will serve as a SME in maintaining and enhancing PayPal global budgeting forecasting & longterm planning systems. Support multiple Planning and Consolidation applications in Oracle Essbase (IaaS/PaaS) and SaaS EPM Cloud environments.
Responsible for performance tuning and optimization of Planning and Consolidation applications.
Ability to work both individually and within a team environment.
Proven experience in providing system support and direct contact with users to solve issues with business applications.
Conduct testing including system integration performance and user acceptance testing.
Prepare and maintain necessary documentation including design documents test documentation training materials and administration/procedural guides.
Develop Complex Business Rules in both calculation manager and Groovy.
Script using Python/Groovy/CDM APIs and utilize EPM Automate to automate data admin activities.
The Hyperion / Essbase Developer must have handson implementation development and support experience preferably gained within one or more financial institution.
Skilled in Partitioning automation optimization and performance tuning of Essbase application data/metadata processing upgrading testing and migrating of cubes in different environment.
Update logical and physical database designs with requested or required changes
Provide input and expertise on architecting and designing system enhancements or creating new
Develop and maintain Block Storage Outline / Aggregate Storage Outline (BSO/ASO) cubes
Create and maintain data forms calculation scripts MAXL automation schedule jobs using batch scripts and business rules.
Expertise in writing custom Essbase calculations scripts MDX scripts automated the Essbase Cubes using MaxL Esscmds and Batch Scripts.
Prepare test cases and effectively conduct unit testing including interacting with business users to validate results.

What You Bring
6 years experience in Oracle 19C or 21C Iaas/Paas essbase applications. Additionally 2 years Oracle EPM Hyperion Planning design development and administration. EPM Narrative and Management Reporting Data Management & EPM Automate is a Plus
Knowledge in Oracle EPM Cloud and On Premises Hyperion Architecture using Hybrid Application methodology and Financial / Planning Modules.
Must Have Proficient in writing complex code in Calculation Scripts & Business Rules.
Nice to have Proficient in writing complex code in Groovy Scripting.
Experience in components of EPBCS including metadata administration outlines dimensions complex calculations business rules calculation scripts creating snapshots backups data and artifact migrations security setup and configuration data forms charts & graphs menus task lists as part of application development and configuration.
Experience in BSO ASO & Hybrid cube design.
Experience in Performance Optimization of Planning application which includes data load process / Business Rules / Cal script and reporting Methods.
Experience in of creating financial reports (pdf) charts pivots dashboards books batches snapshot reports etc. using financial reporting.
Experience in automation SQL batch scripting and EPMAutomate.
Experience in in automations of data Loads and integrations using FDMEE/data management.
Experience on Metadata Upload Process through incremental files and creating automations to seamlessly load metadata.
Ability to be proactive in providing alternatives based on best practices and application functionality.
Financial process and functional knowledge required.
Expert knowledge in analyzing business needs and developing solutions to support the business.
