Job Description


Job Title: Immigration Law Paralegal

Job Description:

We are seeking a bilingual Japanese/English paralegal with 35 years of experience in immigration law. As an immigration law paralegal your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting attorneys with all aspects of immigration case preparation and management.
  2. Conducting intake interviews with clients to gather relevant information for their cases.
  3. Preparing and filing various immigration forms and petitions with government agencies.
  4. Drafting correspondence affidavits and legal documents related to immigration matters.
  5. Conducting legal research on immigration laws regulations and precedents.
  6. Managing case files deadlines and appointments to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  7. Communicating with clients government officials and other relevant parties regarding case updates and requirements.
  8. Assisting with translation and interpretation as needed during client meetings interviews and hearings.
  9. Providing administrative support to attorneys such as scheduling appointments maintaining calendars and organizing documents.
  10. Staying informed about changes in immigration laws and policies to provide accurate and uptodate advice to clients.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in paralegal studies or a related field.
  2. 35 years of experience working as a paralegal preferably in immigration law.
  3. Fluency in both Japanese and English with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  4. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  5. Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
  7. Knowledge of immigration forms procedures and filing requirements.
  8. Familiarity with cultural sensitivities and nuances in dealing with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  9. Ethical conduct and adherence to confidentiality guidelines in handling sensitive information.
  10. Willingness to potentially relocate to the United States in the future for employment opportunities.
