Job Description

Responsible for all aspects of the ISO compliance and the establishment of internal processes/controls for safety and environmental programs. The Safety Specialist must be capable of working independent in lieu of specific instructions to accomplish the mission in accordance with the performance work statement (PWS) and have the ability to establish program objectives or performance goals and assess progress. Responsibilities Major Responsibilities: • Shall ensure compliance with all applicable EH&S and corporate management standards. • Shall be knowledgeable of requirements, conduct inspections/audits and maintain accurate records. • Shall identify and assess hazards in the workplace for risk. • Shall eliminate and control hazards by identifying and implementing appropriate controls, including the elimination of hazardous materials or processes, where applicable. • Shall provide EH&S briefings and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and foster a safe working environment. • Shall prevent and respond to incidents by recording all incidents in accordance with company and OSHA requirements, investigating the cause of incidents and implementing changes to prevent similar incidents in the future. • Shall manage EHS programs by maintaining safety manuals, plans and policies, performing audits and inspections and evaluating key metrics. • Shall advocate for safety and build a positive safety culture by facilitating safety committees, implementing rewards and recognition, and communicating clearly and often.
