ASL Media Specialist Position Available

• Support students needs as outlined in their IEPs.
  
• Interpret extracurricular activities following school policies and supervisor directives.
  
• Provide interpretation services for all mainstream classes attended by D/HH students.
  
• Direct regular education staff inquiries regarding D/HH students to the designated case manager.
  
• Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as an integral part of the team when required.
  
• Act as a bridge between the D/HH Program and mainstream programs ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
  
• Stay updated on educational interpreting practices through participation in workshops professional gatherings networking with peers and staying informed about current literature in the field.
  

Requirements

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluency in English
  
• ^{Knowledge of educational terminology and practices particularly in K12 settings}
  
• ^{Experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred}
  
• ^{Bachelors degree in Sign Language Interpreting Deaf Education or a related field preferred}
  
• ^{Certification or licensures as a Sign Language Interpreter} (e.g. RID certification state licensures) preferred
