Job Description

Title: Senior Technical Engineer (Solar)
Location: Dar es salaam based with assignments outside Dar es salaam
Purpose: We are looking to add a Senior Technical Engineer whose role will be to manage the operations and maintenance activities for solar PV power plants.
The Senior Technical Engineer should have experience in maintaining and troubleshooting grid tied solar PV plants of a commercial scale. Experience and knowledge with battery (BESS) systems power engineering equipment such as diesel generators power factor correction banks servomotor voltage stabilisers would be highly beneficial.
The objectives of the roles are:
Manage and maintain power stabilization and PV inverter systems through effective consistent and comprehensive performance monitoring inspection and preventative maintenance of installed systems.
Ensure effective delivery of all scope defined in the O&M contracts; with a close eye for detail on outofspec components or connections.
Ability to create and follow test plans and communicate with support from country and global office from a remote location. The desire to communicate clearly and frequently must be present.
Site assessment and data logging for sizing of new potential sites for pipeline clients identified. Able to perform detailed roof measurements and accurate recording of power room dimensions sketches of existing equipment.
Aid in design of new systems for pipeline clients utilizing previous AutoCAD experience
Any other duties as assigned by country office. The position is based in Dar es salaam.
The Maintenance Engineer will report to the Country Manager.
Educational background
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
Recognised solar PV training course from a reputable institution is an added advantage
Skills and Knowledge
Proficiency in computer systems IT networking and Autocad.
Proficiency in SCADA (data display and monitoring) systems.
Knowledge and experience in large scale PV systems design installation and maintenance is an added advantage.
Registration with a professional body such as ERB UIPE is an added advantage.
Planning and scheduling of maintenance activities.
Troubleshooting unplanned breakdowns on solar PV equipment and network systems
Data logging and installation of energy monitoring equipment
Managing tools spares and stock items
Other experience: The applicant should have:
The ability to work both independently and as part of a global team sharing expertise;
High diligence and patience to proper design procedures and documentation;
The ability to selfmotivate and complete work assignments under pressure;
The ability to network with Ariya customers business partners staff and management at all levels
Excellent communication and analytical skills in both written and spoken English.
