Job Summary:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented and ambitious professional Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our friendly committed and highly regarded Law and Governance Service. The DPO role is a legally mandated requirement and the post holder is critical in both delivering advice with legally binding consequences to the council and schools and to develop and guide the organisations strategy for fostering a data protection culture. You ll need clear expertise in data management national and European data protection laws and practices as well as an indepth understanding of both GDPR and DPA. It is very likely that you ll hold one or more technical qualifications in data protection.
Key Duties (Sample):
Lead manage and motivate the team to deliver high performance
Ensure that corporate/departmental people practices are understood and implemented within your service
Effectively manage budgets and projects within your service ensuring effective cost management and prioritisation
Monitor and evaluate your team s performance and recommend areas for improvement based on evidence
Coach and support staff to develop
Recommend areas for service improvement based on relevant data and information
Communicate effectively with elected members and other partners/stakeholders
Collaborate constructively with partner organisations and other stakeholders including internal services and colleagues
Build a culture of trust in your team

Key Experience (Sample):
Prior local government experience is desirable but not essential and we are looking for an individual who is accustomed to working at pace and able to multitask.
You ll need to be an exceptional communicator who can deliver clear advice and build solid relationships with all levels of officers and members.
