Job Description

Job Title: Registered Dietitian

BALANCE eating disorder treatment center a premium treatment center in Manhattan is seeking a highly motivated passionate Registered Dietitian to join our expanding team!

The Position

Our Registered Dietitians at BALANCE play an essential role on our multidisciplinary team in the care and treatment of our eating disorder clients.

The role of a Registered Dietitian (RD) at BALANCE is to complete initial nutrition assessments for new clients prepare and run nutrition education groups provide meal support and facilitate therapeutic meals for clients that include pre and postmeal process groups. The RD will also be responsible for scheduling and providing individual nutrition sessions. In such sessions the RD will be required to provide appropriate nutrition interventions and individualized nutrition education to the client. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial individual nutrition sessions for potential program clients (PHP/IOP) and individual nutrition counseling clients
  • Provide weekly (or as needed) individual follow up nutrition case management sessions for program clients
  • Provide weekly (or as needed) individual follow up sessions for counseling clients
  • Determine individualized meal plans for clients
  • Prepare and instruct nutrition education groups and facilitate therapeutic group meals during the program
  • Facilitate meal supports for individual clients contemplating treatment
  • Facilitate experiential snacks and meal outings
  • Direct pre/postmeal processing for group clients
  • Provide meal coaching to individuals during meal/snack times
  • Assist with experiential cooking group as needed
  • Document interactions with clients in the form of group notes or individual session notes by end of the day in our EMR
  • Cover groups when needed such as therapeutic cooking group or multifamily group
  • Schedule and organize client sessions in advance
  • Attend weekly clinical meetings and discuss treatment plans for each client
  • Attend weekly administrative team meetings
  • Attend weekly supervision to discuss challenging cases

The RD will also be responsible for maintaining appropriate credentials in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as well as accumulating continuing education units (CEU’s).

Who You Are:

  • RD/ RDN with eating disorder experience.
  • CEDRD is preferred / on track for CEDRD
  • MS preferred
  • Must be available to work days evenings and Saturdays
  • Passion for eating disorders and mental health
