Job Description

About our Client: Our client is an indigenous exploration and production company a staunch supporter of the Nigerian domestic oil industry looking to develop their team with a Head EHS

Reports to: Managing Director

Supervises: The EHS Team provides support to the Operations group

Interacts with: Internal: All Departments
External: All EHS related
Regulatory Agencies
Job Purpose:
  • The Head of EHS is responsible for the daytoday organization monitoring developing and the implementation of EHS guidelines and standards for all operations and projects in Nigeria.
  • Develop Maintain and monitor the implementation of the EHS Management System in Nigeria.
  • Create appropriate workplace culture and awareness of EHS issues across the business.
  • Generate an awareness of OER EHS expectations at all staff levels.
  • Develop and maintain EHSrelated standards to support management in discharging their responsibilities.
  • Engage contractors JV partners and other companies through EHS forums.
  • Develop national staff across the EHS disciplines.
  • Report EHS performance throughout the company and externally as required.

Responsibilities and Key Objectives:
  • Ensuring that all Project EHS objectives and targets are clearly defined and communicated to project team leaders and members in Nigerian operations.
  • Setting indepth initiatives to improve safety performance in all operations.
  • Keeping the Senior Management appraised of safety performance and recommending improvement methods.
  • Keeping appraised with the Company s projectwide safety program.
  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and investigated with detailed root cause analysis carried out to mitigate any future occurrences.
  • Ensuring that all lessons learned are communicated throughout the organization.
  • Conducting EHS surveys and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken if required.
  • Ensuring the conduct of sufficient site Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) fire drills TBTs permits to work etc.
  • Conducting EHS audits and inspections at various site locations.
  • Ensuring the implementation of EHS mandates within the working practices of each site location and subcontractor facility.


Requirements

Job Knowledge Skills and Experience:
  • The role of the Head EHS requires a skilled industry practitioner with no less than 20 years experience relevant to EHS both in a line position and EHS professional roles.
  • A tertiary qualification in an EHS discipline is desirable. Masters in a Science or Engineering degree in a reputable institution.
  • Considerable experience in health safety and environmental risk management in a systems or product engineering design manufacturing and/or construction environment.
  • Considerable experience in an EHS management/supervisory position in international work environments.
  • Indepth project experienced for marine and onshore/offshore oil and gas facilities and operations.
  • Expert level in EHS Management systems their development implementation and external certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are critical in order to influence and engage management contractors and employee
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have experience working with various computer systems windows 98 2000 vista etc.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of local and international laws regulations codes standards and best industry practices for EHS (e.g. ISO OGP IADC UKOOA API ASME NFPA.
