Job Description

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor youll manage assigned duties regarding hourly and salaried payrolls for the Companys US and Canadian operations. Ensure timely accurate and compliant payrolls in line with Company policies and Federal State and Local regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate payment of Sonocos payrolls covering multicompany multistate and multiple pay cycles.
  • Control payment and reporting of special payrolls (executive manager and supervisor bonuses).
  • Maintain controls and audits for accurate payroll calculation and Sonocos compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Audit HR entries into Workday for SOX compliance identifying and addressing control weaknesses.
  • Handle exceptional pays (moving pay stock options COLA and expatriates) ensuring correct taxation.
  • Indepth knowledge of pay practices federal state and local wage and hour law and tax regulations.
  • Assist with yearend processing for timely and accurate issuance of tax forms.
  • Research federal and state rules and regulations.
  • Make decisions to resolve pay issues balancing employee needs with Sonocos compliance and cost.
  • Recommend process and system improvements.
  • Participate in system testing for software/hardware upgrades implementations acquisitions and integrations.
  • Maintain processing task list and documentation as per department standards.
  • Provide backup support to other team members when needed.

This position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Hartsville SC 100% onsite initially with potential hybrid options posttraining. Candidate must reside close or near Hartsville or be open to relocation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fouryear degree in Accounting Finance or Business Administration.
  • 2 years of experience in payroll or related payroll/human resource experience is also preferred.
  • Experience with Kronos and Workday is a plus.

This is a progression position (Level I II or III) based on experience education and business needs.
