Principal Function of the Position:
This position directs and coordinates manufacturing engineering activities in the production processes involving metal fabrication machining welding painting and assembly on all shifts. This includes overseeing coordinating and actively engaging in manufacturing engineering projects to improve efficiency in product flow material handling safety quality and productivity. Support continuous improvement initiatives in all areas and disciplines within the facility.

This person must communicate effectively with coworkers supervisors and managers at all levels of the organization daily. This person must be able to encourage and promote lean concepts and provide the means for employees at all levels within the operation to give input share ideas raise questions and help make informed business decisions for continually improving programs procedures and systems involved in the overall manufacturing process.

Primary Responsibilities of this Position:

1. Directly implement required manufacturing programs processes and procedures
2. Provides direction in implementing safety facility layouts tooling and fixtures
3. Ensure that all manufacturing engineering projects are implemented and sustained
4. Ensure that all manufacturing support is completed promptly
5. Must understand implement and enforce safety policies and procedures when leading projects and teams
6. Responsible for teaching and implementing lean systems and methodologies
7. Lead and mentor production supervisors and other employees in continuous improvement initiatives
8. Lead and mentor employees towards root cause solutions of quality issues
9. Lead or assist with Kaizen projects
10. Develop and deliver presentations/training for internal and external use as required
11. Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
12. Ensure the manufacturing routings are accurate and represent the most efficient way to complete a part
13. Ensure that all shop support programming represents the most efficient way to process the parts
14. Support the manufacturing engineering needs for all shifts

Secondary Duties and Reporting Responsibilities:

1. Prepares daily weekly and monthly reports as required by the Director of Operations
2. Provide significant project support for all areas as directed by my senior management.

Education Requirements

This position requires a bachelors degree in Manufacturing Process Mechanical Engineering or another related discipline and a minimum of 35 years of experience.

Prerequisite Skills and Work Experience

• Prior experience working with manufacturing processes procedures product flow and equipment
• Prior experience working with and implementing continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Mfg.)
• Prior experience working with BOMs routings and time and motion studies required to set standards
• Proficiency in written verbal presentation and telephone communications skills
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft products including Microsoft Word Access Excel & PowerPoint
