Trade Accountant

The purpose of his role is to take ownership of all administrative responsibilities in relation to commodity/foreign exchange trade administration. To ensure that all trades are captured on a timeous and accurate manner. This will include compliance monitoring against relevant policies.

Skills :

Systems Implementation and Maintenance

• Act as implementation specialist for the implementation of any new hedging systems (TriplePoint) as well as ongoing deal position management within this system.
• Continuous reporting improvements.

Trading Administration and Reporting

• Responsible to provide operational support to Traders / Front Office deal teams in relation to inventory / cash / derivative / other hedging activities. This includes trade data management trade monitoring and reporting market matching and transactions settlement.
• Liaising with Finance / Traders / Managing Director for accurate recording of daily position Profit and Loss reporting.
• Prepare and manage the general ledger system of all hedge accounts.
• Maintain unwind schedule for seed crushed to ensure timeous unwinding of hedges and accurate seed exposure.
• Assist with ad hoc requests from internal customers and management.
• Reconcile cash positions with external sources to ensure financial accuracy.
• Assist traders with application process for new clients and suppliers.
• Collaborate with brokers and agents regarding admin & statement enquiries.

Health and Safety

• Participate in safety forums created by Soill for example safety meetings and safety talks.
• Followup on any activities assigned through safety meetings / committees / representatives / management.
• Report all safety incidents to the relevant people.
• Attend safety education and refresher programmes.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures at SOILL.
• Distribute safety information as and when required.
• Always wear protective clothing (where applicable).

Risk Management

• Ongoing management of business risks in relation to hedging activities in comparison to the approved Company hedging policy.
• Daily reporting of compliance against Company hedging policy.
• Perform stress testing on a continuous basis to highlight potential hedging related risks to the business.
• Maintain a hedging journal to ensure all changes in hedging strategies are recorded.
• Consult with auditors and regulators during external audits or inspections.
• Loading of NCs for noncompliance situations regarding hedge exposure or policy deviations.

Commercial Contract Management

• Monitoring of open forex / commodity contracts (incl. Sales and Procurement related) to ensure timeous completion as per contractual terms.
• Ensure that all hedges against contracts are correctly managed and matched.
• Ensure that all contracts are accounted for in the hedging system.
• Calculate storage and interest cost on overdue contracts.
