Hours : Mon Thur 6:00 14.00 Fri 06.00 13.00
Working for a well established and secure manufacturing organisation MacArthur Recruitment are helping them look for an experienced Mechanical Fitter (Engineer) to support a range of production machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment as part of a friendly team with a great manager.
Your background and experience could be from virtually any mechanical environment e.g. domestic commercial industrial manufacturing etc.. They are very open and flexible as further on and off job training can be provided. Your attitude and willingness to throw yourself into the role and take the opportunity to make it your own ideally are important.
Responsibilities for the role of Mechanical Fitter / Engineer :
- Stripping down and rebuild of aged complex machinery
- Experience of belts bearings gearboxes hydraulics pneumatics valves and couplings
- Mechanical setups on machines
- Risk Assessments and understanding of H&S issues specifically with respect to machinery safety and isolations
- Stripping down machinery identifying worn parts and rebuilding as part of preventative maintenance planned work.
- Breakdown repair identify cause of failure and replace worn / broken parts.
- In time with experience assist the machine operatives with the more complicated machine setup tasks to improve quality and productivity on the machines.
- Refurbish subassemblies build up and set to the required standards.
- Use of lathes mills and welding would be an advantage but not vital.
- Adhere to health and safety policy and procedures
- Acting as backup to operators on occasion eg when someone is off ill etc.
Background for the role of Mechanical Fitter :
- Mechanical background eg domestic commercial industrial manufacturing etc
- Some sort of electrical qualification would be ideal however experience is key ie NVQ Level 3 (or similar C&G NVQ ONC HND time served etc.)
- Positive attitude to work and colleagues
- Team work
- Any electrical or multiskill experience would be a bonus
