POSITION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of large buildings.

Two years of experience in a supervisory role (preferred).


Oneyear responsible experience in traffic transportation work including but not limited to: Preparing and planning of bus routes and schedules based on traffic conditions passenger loads and other pertinent factors; Supervising maintenance and repair of buses trucks automobiles tractors sweeper mowers and/or power equipment.




Training:
Associate degree or minimum of 60 units from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Business OR an equivalent to completion of twelfth grade with a combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge skills and abilities that have been achieved along with passing of district proficiency exam.
Additional specialized in training in school transportation or a related field is desirable.
Bilingual oral and written in Spanish (preferred).

Prior experience working in a school district setting (preferred).



License or Certificate:

A valid First Aid and CPR certificate

Pesticide application license

Valid Drivers License authorized for the State of California.

Passing of District lifting exam.



Currently we have one open position that serves River Delta USD. We are located 12 miles from Antioch 20 miles from Fairfield 21 miles from Dixon 23 miles from Lodi and Galt 24 miles from Elk Grove 29 miles from Vacaville.

Classified Management & Confidential Employees Salary Schedule

Range 19 :$91225.00 $112196.00 annually exempt

Placement dependent on verifiable years of experience.

Five years of credit may be granted for experience.

Placement requirement may be waived by the Board of Trustees.

Benefits up to $1500 monthly towards the purchase of District sponsored benefits.


MISSION STATEMENT

River Delta is a K12 district with an enrollment of 1880. The District has 8 small schools: (4) K6 elementary schools; (2) middle schools; and (2) high schools serving the communities of Clarksburg Hood Courtland Walnut Grove Ryde Locke Isleton Rio Vista Birds Landing and Collinsville.


The River Delta Unified School District sits in three counties Sacramento Solano and Yolo. Although it is a tricounty district it is served by the Sacramento County Office of Education.
River Delta Unified School District is committed to providing a quality education for all students and has high standards and expectations for students success in school. DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE

OPERATIONS AND TRANSPORTATION

DEFINITION

To plan organize coordinate and direct the Districts building maintenance custodial and grounds keeping services and operations and transportation. To administer and recommend policies and procedures for the Maintenance Operations and Transportation programs. To inspect and regularly evaluate all District facilities. To prepare longandshortterm range plans for repair maintenance and site improvement projects. To plan coordinate and direct the system to transport pupils to/from school and on all extra trips. To supervise and evaluate skilled personnel in building maintenance operations and transportation. To provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services. To perform related duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from and reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services; and provides supervision and evaluation of Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations and Supervisor of Transportation.

DUTIES

Essential Functions:

General Maintenance Operations and Transportation:

  1. Directs supervises coordinates training and may evaluate Maintenance Operations and Transportation staff including maintenance custodial grounds transportation clerical and substitute employees.
  2. Interviews prospective employees and makes recommendations regarding their employment. Supervise and assist all new employee onboarding including training. Recommends employment transfer and promotion discipline and dismissal of personnel; develop inservice training programs: prepare periodic evaluations of employees incident and accident reports and conduct personnel and incident investigations.
  3. Communicates with other administrators personnel vendors governmental agencies the public and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information; respond to and resolve sensitive and complex department inquiries issues and complaints.
  4. Plans organizes develops implements and maintains departmental goals objectives policies and procedures; work directly with departmental personnel in the development and interpretation of department policies; review and evaluate work methods and procedures for improving organizational performance enhancing services and meeting goals; ensure that goals are achieved.
  5. Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports records and files related to personnel and assigned activities.
  6. Plans organizes coordinates and directs all Maintenance Operations and Transportation Department activities.
  7. Conducts monthly staff and safety meetings districtwide.
  8. Plans and directs the schedules methods procedures of work material and equipment requirements operational problems and conflicts assisting with and solving existing problems determining future requirements of personnel and materials. Maintains and executes equipment replacement schedules.
  9. Provides technical expertise information and assistance to the Assistant SuperintendentBusiness regarding assigned functions; assist in the formulation and development of policies procedures and programs. Attend weekly meetings with Assistant Superintendent of Business Services.
  10. Prepares Maintenance Operations and Transportation budgets budget requests purchase orders requisition supplies and equipment as needed; make determinations of future materials and manpower needs with approval from Assistant Superintendent of Business Services.
  11. Reviews seeks and presents for consideration any applicable funding/grant opportunities.
  12. Supervise the maintenance and repair program for the Districts vehicles tractors sweepers mowers and other power grounds equipment.
  13. Develops cost estimates and prepares requisitions for necessary equipment vehicles materials and supplies. Maintains records of operations and costs and prepare and submit periodic reports.

Maintenance and Operations:

  1. Works with site Principals to draft work schedules for maintenance personnel and to assign priorities based on assigned work orders.
  2. Confers with school officials regarding problems pertaining to maintenance and grounds activities; advise on and approve work requisitions; prepare plans sketches and specifications with work projects; inspect buildings and grounds for cleanliness safety work quality and needed repair.
  3. Develops and implements shortandlongrange preventive maintenance programs.
  4. Develops implements monitors and maintains Deferred Maintenance Plan for the district.
  5. Makes cost estimates on special projects construction projects and repair work.
  6. Assists in the preparation of specification for bids; consults and advises regarding alteration or modernization of existing structures; work with architects school officials and contractor on the design construction or major alteration of school buildings; reviewing and assisting in making changes in plans and specifications. Collaborates and confers with architects inspectors and the California Division of the State Architect (DSA).
  7. Act as the liaison if there is a need to work with FEMA.
  8. Ensures all school sites have an annual FIT including RDUSD authorized charter school(s).
  9. Inspects work completed by outside contractors and communicates problematic issues for resolution.
  10. On call to respond to security alarms and facility and operations related emergencies.
  11. Conducts routine inspections of all district facilities and vehicles for safety and cleanliness and coordinates and supervises the repairs of equipment and facilities.
  12. Prepares and monitors reports associated with removal of hazardous water.
  13. Ensures all state federal and district laws rules policies procedures and regulations are followed. Conducts regular inspections of facilities and ensures compliance with local state and federal regulations.
  14. Oversees the maintenance and construction of school sites special projects and equipment. Responsible for routine site maintenance including but not limited to repair and servicing of window and door systems minor plumbing and electrical repair servicing of HVAC and hot water systems servicing of lighting systems painting and other minor repair related to maintenance of buildings.
  15. Oversees the coordination of Bond work done throughout the district; manage contracts and construction projects.
  16. Directs the successful administration of the Districts security and employment safety programs.
  17. Creates plans for landscaping planting beautification projects and maintenance of the Districts grounds instructs and assists in propagation and cultivation work required for the various plants.
  18. Inspects grounds and facilities for needed maintenance care.
  19. Provides technical expertise information and assistance to the Assistant SuperintendentBusiness regarding assigned functions; assist in the formulation and development of policies procedures and programs.
  20. Monitors energy management systems and makes necessary adjustments.
  21. Performs and/or supervises others in the performance of routine yard maintenance including mowing tree trimming irrigation fertilization spraying and other tasks related to routine sprinkler repair. Services and performs minor repairs on landscape equipment and tools.
  22. Ensures compliance with the Healthy Schools Act including but not limited to complete appropriate and required training.
  23. Develops and periodically updates the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan annual submission of pesticide uses reports to the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR).

Transportation:

  1. Prepare bus routes and schedules after studying traffic conditions pupil loads and other such pertinent factors.
  1. Supervise the maintenance and repair program for the Districts Transportation vehicles and equipment.
  2. Confer with school personnel law enforcement personnel parents and the public on matters related to vehicle safety student safety and discipline.
  3. Supervise the specialized periodic CHP/DMVapproved training of Transportation drivers.

Marginal Functions:

  1. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of administration including office and personnel management and budgetary practices.

Methods practices equipment and supplies used in school building and grounds maintenance operations and transportation.

Working methods and procedures used in the building and construction trades including carpentry plumbing electrical and heating and air conditioning.

Laws and regulations pertaining to the construction and repair of school facilities.

Principles of supervision training and performance evaluation practices methods and design. Supervisory skills to implement programs and policies to satisfy operational needs.

Operational characteristics services and services of a maintenance and operations program.
