Job Summary:

Ensuring that the standard and quality of the food production and the hygiene within the PDC is maintained at the highest level at all times.

Management supervision and induction of all PDC cafe staff including trainees

Promotion of PDC caf facilities within Royal Greenwich and wider

Creating menus and recipes that ensure a good variety and quality

Overseeing and monitoring of appropriate stock taking

Provision of hospitality services to staff visitors and to meet the needs of conferences and events

Undertaking supplier reviews to ensure consistent quality of products within budget

Actively promoting and adhering to the Greener Greenwich Strategy

Maintenance of equipment

Key Duties (Sample):

To be responsible for managing the process that ensures all staff are aware of their duties and what is expected of them whilst working in the PDC caf .

To teach new staff the practical skills they require to perform their roles to the required standard.

To oversee and delegate duties to caf staff and trainees as per PDC/menu requirements.

To provide staff and trainees with feedback on their performance and identify training needs that enable staff development.

To ensure that any staff concerns are resolved fairly and quickly.

To ensure that all catering staff are aware of and follow safe working practices and are therefore working safely at all times.

To provide a good quality and varied menu that adheres to varying dietary needs and preferences.

To oversee and provide hospitality for events at different PDC events throughout the year.

To be responsible for ensuring that food allergies are adequately and correctly displayed and notified to all PDC caf users.

To actively ensure that the PDC caf adheres to the Greener Greenwich Strategy by introducing systems and strategies that promote but are not limited to meat free days vegetarian options disposal of plastic single use and polystyrene packaging and adhering to recycling of waste and products.

To jointly promote and advertise PDC catering services to teams and organisations outside of Inclusion Learning and Achievement.

To manage caf stocks whilst ensuring wastage is minimised by careful supervision of food preparation methods.

To ensure proper hygienic storage methods are utilised to prevent food loss and food contamination.

To be responsible for ensuring that the PDC caf meets all regulations including sanitary food safety guidelines food hygiene practices and overall health and safety.

To be responsible for overseeing orders and management of appropriate stock control of all PDC caf foods and cleaning materials.

To assist other staff in cleaning the PDC Caf at the end of individual shifts.

To maintain all equipment within the PDC Caf with due care and diligence arranging annual maintenance checks and renewing annual licences where relevant.

To undertake any other work appropriate to the level and general nature of the post s duties.

Where necessary for the job role or appropriate for continued development in the role the post holder may be required to participate in training and development courses made available via the Council s Apprentice Levy funding.

To undertake all duties with due regard to the provisions of health and safety regulations and legislation Data Protection/GDPR the Council s Equal Opportunities and Customer Care policies.

To perform all duties in line with Council s staff values showing commitment to improving residents lives and opportunities demonstrating respect and fairness taking ownership working towards doing things better and working together across the council.

To ensure that appropriate levels of emergency planning and business continuity practices are in place for the service and that Caf staff are appropriately briefed on their roles in an emergency.

To undertake supervision/management of staff as and when required.

You may be required to undertake alternative additional or ancillary duties from time to time or transfer to another service department within the Council as the Council may reasonably direct to meet service user demand in the event of a crisis or emergency.

This position is located in London N11

The role is parttime 3 days per week
