Retail Head Butcher Job Galway


Teamworx are delighted to work with a major supermarket player in the West of Ireland who have a number of shops up and down the West coast. This amazing and national awardwinning supermarket group who have highspec shops are seeking a passionate Head Butcher to head up a busy protein department in one of their busy retail supermarkets in Galway. Their Galway location is about a 20minute drive outside of the city on the north side of Galway.

As Head Butcher you will be either fully qualified or senior Part Qualified as a Butcher someone who has experienced leading motivating teams training staff and setting standards in a busy butcher environment.


Our client is looking to speak to the best candidates on the market who would love to head up a busy butcher operation. They are neg DOE.

The requirements for this Retail Head Butcher job:
  • Previous experience as a butcher within a retail environment is essential
  • Previous management experience working with food such as controlling the waste rotation of stock stock inventory management ordering and driving sales
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work both on your own and within a team
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP
  • Flexible to work mainly early mornings with occasional late evenings and weekends


Responsibilities for this Retail Head Butcher job:
  • Receiving and inspecting carcasses or cuts of meat determining the appropriate method of butchering and using tools to cut trim portion and prepare the meat according to customer orders
  • Responsible for the management of up to 10 staff members supporting your team delegating work and ensuring tasks are completed correctly
  • Assist customers in selecting the right cuts of meat provide cooking advice and answer questions about the different types of meat
  • Follow proper hygiene practices ensure proper storage and handling of meat clean and sanitise equipment and work areas regularly and adhere to local health regulations
