Full Job Description

This position is based in Milton Keynes and successful applicant must be able to commute to the offices 2 3 times per week or more if necessary for the business.

Financial Controller
The main responsibilities of the Financial Controller are managing all finance and accounting operations ensuring resources are allocated accordingly reporting deadlines are achieved and assisting in monthend reporting along with reviewing and approving journals payments and invoices.
Assisting with internal and external audit reviews and being part of the Operational Managers team as the Accounts representative.
Reporting to the Finance Director.

What you will do:
Oversee the Financial Accounts and Accounting Services teams.
Manage and provide support and guidance

  • Responsible for overseeing client transactions in Britain and Ireland finance and accounting operations.
  • Lead motivate and develop the Financial Accounts and Accounting Services team.
  • Ensuring all colleagues have defined responsibilities departmental and individual goals and annual appraisals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to optimise the financial reporting both internally (HQ reporting) and externally (Statutory Accounts).
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting services team to drive out efficiencies in the bank AP & AR processes ensuring the service delivery to the business is maintained.
  • Work collaboratively across functions to improve and ensure efficient business processes.
  • Contribute to the companys financial strategy and decisionmaking process.
  • Assist the Finance Director in preparing and presenting reports to senior executives stakeholders and board members.
  • Additional ad hoc duties as required by the Finance Director.

Internal And External Financial Reporting

  • Lead & coordinate the monthend and yearend close process liaising and building relationships with head office colleagues.
  • Guide and support the team ensuring monthend reporting requirements and deadlines to Head Office are adhered to.
  • Maintain and monitor the monthend timetable ensuring any delays are understood and support is provided to ensure deadlines are not impacted.
  • Ensure all daily banking deadlines are achieved.
  • Complete allocated monthend tasks in the agreed timeframe.
  • Review and approve journals raised by the team.
  • Review figures before submission.
  • Work with the Senior Business Controller to support the commentary to the business Head Office and region.
  • Respond timely to Head Office on any reporting queries and where possible preempt queries that may be raised.
  • Support the production of the statutory reporting requirements of the businesses by; allocating resources agreeing on timelines with the external auditors and delivering before the deadlines.

Maintain the Financial Reporting Systems

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting through monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reviews. Ensuring issues are investigated and addressed quickly to maintain the integrity of the accounts.
  • Review and approve the daily payments when needed.
  • Advise develop and document processes for the accounting policies and transactions application to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Review proposed business change documents and highlight any potential impact on the Finance departments procedures and processes. Supporting the Project Accountant to make recommendations to develop the change most effectively and efficiently.
  • Facilitate an effective working relationship between the Finance department and the functional area(s) initiating the project(s).

Audit Process: Internal and external audits

  • Lead & coordinate the internal and external financial quarterly audits ensuring all areas of review are assigned owners and actioned timely to ensure the successful close of the audit within the agreed deadlines.

Taxation: Review and approve

  • Manage and ensure compliance with local government reporting requirements tax filings and deadlines.
  • Oversee the submission of tax payments and returns within applicable tax laws requirements and deadlines (e.g. Corporation Tax VAT excise tax withholding tax).

What you will need:

  • ACA ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.
  • 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Relevant business knowledge and experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the monthend/yearend close process.
  • Experience with creating and reporting financial statements and external audits.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Excel and finance system D365.
  • Effective written/verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Efficient organised and proactive.
  • Fluent in English.
