Job Description:

As a First Article Inspection (FAI) Engineer you will play a crucial role in ensuring that products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements from the outset of production. Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed inspections of initial production samples documenting findings and collaborating with crossfunctional teams to address any discrepancies or nonconformities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive first article inspections of newly manufactured components or assemblies to verify compliance with design specifications customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Utilize a variety of inspection techniques and tools including measurement instruments such as calipers micrometers gauges and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) systems.
  • Review engineering drawings blueprints and technical documentation to understand product requirements and inspection criteria.
  • Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly including deviations nonconformities and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders including engineering production and quality assurance teams to address inspection findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance with contractual agreements and industry standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes streamline workflows and optimize quality control procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspection activities including documentation of FAI reports measurement data and inspection plans.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments emerging technologies and regulatory requirements related to first article inspection practices.
  • Adhere to company policies safety guidelines and quality management systems to uphold the highest standards of product quality and integrity.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering Quality Assurance or a related field.
  • Previous experience in quality control metrology or first article inspection within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings specifications and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 AS9100 etc.) and quality assurance methodologies is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using measurement tools and equipment such as calipers micrometers height gauges optical comparators and CMM systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and quality control methodologies such as Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing or Statistical Process Control (SPC) is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks manage multiple projects simultaneously and work efficiently in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong problemsolving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges and improving processes.
