Product Designer - Homecentre Concept

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Provide design direction and product development in line with commercial strategy brand style and department standards. Keep a consistent design direction across various categories(Home Dcor Wall Dcor Indoor Garden & Lighting) using the brand style guide. Work closely with buying teams to deliver a commercially driven and balanced assortment across hard goods household categories.

As a product designer you will be responsible for conceptualizing designing and developing hard good products (Home Dcor Wall Dcor Indoor Garden & Lighting)

Art Direction and Style Guidance
Deliver the seasonal design themes directional boards in line with global trends and home centre customer taste and commercial calendar (concept colour palette product direction print direction design briefs etc.)

Research and analyse actively the Design Watch and its communication within the company (Exhibitions reports fairs territory visits etc.)

Facilitate the global trend direction and coordination through the Home Centre Style Guide.
As a product designer for hard goods your primary responsibility will be to create innovative and functional designs for various products.
You will work closely with buyers & manufacturers to develop products that meet the needs of the target market. This involves conducting market research creating sketches and prototypes and testing the product for functionality and durability.
Designer will be responsible for ensuring that the products adhere to industry standards and regulations also making necessary modifications to the design to meet these standards.
To excel in this role you will In terms of technical skills proficiency in computeraided design (CAD) software is a must.. You must also have a good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes to ensure that your designs are feasible and costeffective.
Creativity is at the core of product design and as such you must possess a strong sense of aesthetics and be able to think outside the box. You should also have a good understanding of functional design and the ability to design products that are userfriendly and visually appealing.
Conduct regular competitor and middleeast market analysis.
As a product designer you will be working with a team and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively is crucial for the success of the project.

Product Design
Deliver hard goods product design which are feasible and commercially viable and aspirational in line with customer needs.
Prepare design briefs making specifications product mockups detailing the materials measurements techniques & components of each design in line with defined price points.
Effective coordination and close collaboration with factories/suppliers/buyers for design selections range building and product development.
Deliver high quality and reliable deliverables following company standards.
Ensure the achievement of the timelines and departmental critical path.
Support the Commercial Team by giving clear styling direction and guidance on product development / coordination

JOB SPECIFICATION

Postgraduate or Diploma in Product Design / Interior Design or equivalentTechnical and creative skills. Additionally a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and experience is crucial in landing a job as a product designer for hard goods.

Relevant experience in home industry at least 10years Design & manufacturing experience in a multicategory from Home and format retail set up. Middleeast specific experience is a plus.

Leadership and collaboration capabilities required. High creativity skills (art direction graphics product curating design direction)

Excellent Knowledge about homeware products.

Professional skillset on design process and CAD tools (Adobe Photoshop Illustrator Keynote etc.) Detail oriented and excellent team player.

Planning and Organizing skills. Good technical knowledge on materials and processes during product development (hard goods ideally)
