Job Description
HVAC Technician
Responsible for maintaining refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment throughout the hotel, ensuring optimal functionality through repairs and preventive maintenance. Manages stock and spares, placing orders as needed. Follows directives from the Director of Engineering, reporting progress and completion of work orders to the Engineering Supervisor. Prioritizes guest room issues, collaborates with peers on preventive and annual maintenance programs, and adheres to safety protocols. Additionally, fulfills other assigned tasks as directed by the supervisor. Daily reporting of A/C complaints and close cooperation with the Engineering team are integral parts of the role.

Key Responsibilities
- Reporting and Communication: Report daily work progress and completion of work orders to the Engineering Supervisor. Prioritize A/C complaint reports, particularly those affecting guest rooms. Collaborate closely with the Engineering Supervisor and peers to execute preventive maintenance and annual maintenance programs.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety rules, departmental procedures, and instructions. Ensure compliance with safety regulations during job execution.
- Task Execution: Carry out tasks assigned by the supervisor diligently. This includes reading building service, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical drawings, fault-finding and repairing HVAC systems, maintaining BMS systems, handling water treatment, and periodic inspection of refrigeration equipment.
- Teamwork and Flexibility: Work closely with peers, including electricians, to support each other's tasks. Demonstrate flexibility and initiative as a team player. Maintain tools in good condition and keep the working area clean.
- Additional Duties: Fill daily refrigeration log sheets, participate in projects as required, ensure proper ordering and management of HVAC stocks, and uphold Raffles Brand standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of HVAC technician certification or apprenticeship program preferred.
- Certification: Valid HVAC technician license or certification as required by local regulations.
- Skills & Knowledge: Proficiency in reading building service, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical drawings. Strong fault-finding abilities and knowledge of HVAC systems, including building control systems and BMS systems. Understanding of planned preventive maintenance programs, safety protocols, and water treatment techniques.
- Physical Ability: Ability to work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects, and perform tasks at heights.
- Communication: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with supervisors, peers, and other staff members.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with peers and other departments, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to assist when needed.
- Organization: Capable of maintaining tools and equipment in good working conditions and keeping the work area clean and orderly.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures in the HVAC field.
