Job description: Manage the database and ensure 100% availability.

General Responsibilities

• Requires good problem solving skills.
• Ability to debug & diagnose DBMS system and utility software
• Requires IMS Sysplex experience & datasharing expertise
• Various types of IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE).
• Knowledge about IMS SYSGEN process Defining/Adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system.
• Knowledge of IMS Controls Blocks (DBDs PSBs ACBs).
• Knowledge of IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts and RECON datasets
• Should be able to handle the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercise activities.
• Sound knowledge about IMS Logging OLDS; SLDS; WADS;RLDS
• Command Codes: Concepts and usage of different command codes. Both Type 1 and Type 2 IMS commands and various IMS Utilities
• Working knowledge of IMS Upgrades.
• Checkpoint Restart: Difference between Basic and Symbolic Check pointing and corresponding Restart logic.
• Different access methods: HDAM HIDAM PHDAM PHIDAM etc...
• Design code and maintain DBMS system exits
• Performance analysis & tuning for DBMS subsystems
• IMS Monitoring Tool Proficient Required Monitoring tool
• Proficient in JCL TSO/SDSF/JES2/SYSVIEW/SMP/E
• The ability to manage small groups lead projects and coordinate multiple tasks under time and resource constraints
