About the position
Based in the European Union and under the supervision of the Senior Officer Global Engagement and Executive Communications the Temporary Assistant will support the Alliance s participation in largescale strategic events and/or global policy processes (such as the Conventions of Parties of UNFCCC UNCCD and UNCBD) to raise the visibility of the Organization on the global stage strengthening our network of partners and positioning our innovations and technologies in the hands of users.
Responsibilities
More specifically the Temporary Assistant will:
- Support the prospecting of opportunities to position the Alliance in major events.
- Assist in maintaining an uptodate calendar of major events and related plans in coordination with the Global Engagement and Events Analyst.
- Support the Alliance in planning organizing implementing and participating in largescale events and/or processes of global reach.
- Assist in extracting lessons learned from events to enhance future coordination.
- Support with the preparation of presentations speeches blogs oped articles and other communication materials for events.
- Support the creation and update of a list of key facts and related sources useful for speech writing.
- Assist in other tasks and initiatives as assigned by the Senior officer Global engagement and executive communications.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Secondary school education supplemented by office training or related courses.
- Master s degree in communications journalism international relations social sciences or relevant fields is highly desirable.
- Previous relevant work experience (preferably minimum 2 years) in external engagement events management and/or communication in an international organization NGO or equivalent.
- Understanding of issues related to the food systems environment nutrition and agriculture.
- Excellent writing and organizational skills and the ability to convey complex and technical content in engaging succinct and clear formats.
- Knowledge of or experience with Adobe Creative suite.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office package.
- Strong interpersonal communications and teamwork skills ; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national background.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to demonstrate flexibility in fulfilling assignments and to be proactive in planning researching and pitching communications opportunities.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
Desirable Requirements
- Fluency in Italian Spanish French and other UN languages is an asset.

Terms of employment
This is a temporary support position which will be based in the European Union.
The monthly salary will be EUR 2983. The position will be for a period of 11 months.
