Overview:
An Ophthalmologist for OPD plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive medical and surgical eye care to patients visiting the outpatient department. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of eyerelated conditions and diseases ensuring the delivery of highquality patient care and optimizing visual health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive eye examinations and assessments.
- Performing surgical procedures such as cataract surgery LASIK and other corrective surgeries.
- Diagnosing and treating eye conditions such as glaucoma macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
- Prescribing and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Utilizing medical imaging techniques to evaluate eye health and detect abnormalities.
- Educating patients about eye health preventive care and treatment options.
- Participating in research and staying updated with advancements in ophthalmology.
- Documenting patient medical histories and treatment plans accurately.
- Managing and maintaining medical equipment and instruments.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in ophthalmology.
- Board certification in ophthalmology.
- Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
- Demonstrated experience in performing ophthalmic surgeries.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decisionmaking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in utilizing medical imaging technologies.
