Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing EOR services for tailings and heap leach projects within the USA as well as international locations.
  • Support earthen dam designs and construction oversight
  • Complete geotechnical site assessments and associated field services to develop mining infrastructure.
  • Support initial and ongoing material characterization activities including gathering field data designing and overseeing laboratory programs interpreting laboratory data and developing appropriate constitutive models.
  • Perform stability and deformation analyses for mining infrastructure including tailings storage facilities and heap leach pads.
  • Perform seepage analyses using finite element software such as Seep/W Rocscience etc.
  • Perform liquefaction and dynamic analyses for tailings embankment and foundation materials.
  • Perform and evaluate bearing capacity and settlement analyses for mining infrastructure.
  • Assist with tailings dam breach evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Assist with proposals for miningrelated design project.
  • Develop and execute project management plans.
  • Work with and provide training to midlevel and junior engineers.
  • Assist with generating design drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction specifications.
  • Other tasks as assigned by your supervisor

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 6 for Senior Level with an MS degree; 8 for Senior Level with a BS degree.
  • Computer Software: Significant experience with MS Office Suite. Proficiency using standard geotechnical design software (Rocscience GeoStudios etc.); numerical modeling experience is advantageous; and basic understanding of Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Geotechnical Laboratory: Proficient with standard material testing and index tests. Knowledgeable with data analysis from compressibility hydraulic conductivity and shear strength test data. Experience with dynamic testing desired.
  • Required Registrations / Professional Development: PE registration or a path to registration is clearly defined.
  • Travel: Must have the ability to travel in the U.S. and internationally to support field programs.
  • Technical writing: Experience writing technical reports technical memorandums and proposals.
  • Other (Project Level): Working knowledge of geotechnical monitoring instrumentation; various geotechnical tools for subsurface assessments (drilling methods; CPT geophysics etc.); numerical modeling methods and software.
  • Education: Master of Science (preferred); Bachelor of Science (considered). Civil Engineering degrees from ABETaccredited universities are preferred. Alternative degrees (e.g. Geologic Engineering Mining Engineering) will be considered based on relevant coursework.
