Position Summary:
Assists Director of Pharmacy in his/her duties. Supports the compounding dispensing ordering and proper storage of pharmaceuticals. Assists in maintaining adequate levels of drugs through proper inventory control procedures. Directs the work of technical staff in a competent manner. Assists in medication monitoring functions of the Medical Staff as define by its bylaws TJC and Medicare conditions of participation. Facilitates the development implementation and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of appropriate safe and costeffective drug therapies. Monitors and provides drug therapies for the newborn adolescent adult and geriatric patients. Provides staff development and education to fellow colleagues nursing staff and medical staff as needed. Participates in Medication Usage Evaluations ADR program and formulary management. Develops and maintains a good working relationship with the medical staff and other hospital personnel. Establishes and maintains a system of record keeping accountability and documentation with the current applicable local state and federal statures regarding the practice of pharmacy.
Essential Functions:
Ensures safe appropriate costeffective medication therapies for patients according to established policies procedures and protocols.
Provides education and information on pharmaceutical care and drug therapy.
Coordinates Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
Participates and coordinates pharmacy role in Infection Control and Antibiotic Stewardship activities.
Reviews clinical activities of the pharmacy
Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
Participates in all clinical activities in a competent and professional manner.
Assists the Director with the training and orientation of new employees and pharmacy technicians.
Assists with patient charging and inventory control activities under the supervision of the Director.
Assists the director with Quality Assurance and Drug Use Evaluation activities.
Performs other duties related to the practice of pharmacy.

Qualifications External
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy Program Required
Doctor of Pharmacy Preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Licenses
West Virginia United States Pharmacist
