Assistant IT Officer

Overview:

The Assistant IT Officer provides technical support for shipboard users in cooperation with the lead IT Officer on their vessel. Theywork closely with the IT lead as a technician and assistant manager interacting positively and professionallywith crew staff and officers from all departments onboard the ship.

This position is responsible for the maintenance operation and support of all onboard computer systems mobile devices physical and virtual servers networks pointofsale terminals network equipment and peripherals.They will also interact with shoreside support teams through Incident Change and Service Request tickets using email chat and phone support.

Essential Requirements:

• Able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of equipment.
• Can remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Works calmly but efficiently under pressure to achieve targets and is comfortable being at the forefront of highimpact issues.
• Able to work independently and take initiative.
• Able to build and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in an extremely diverse environment.

Education & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in areas of user support with a medium sized LAN.
• Three or more of the following certificates:CompTIA A CompTIA Network Comp TIA Server CompTIA Security Cisco CCNA VMWare Vsphere 7.
• Thorough knowledge of computer systems including but not limited to MS Office Windows Client & Server editions.
• BSc Computer Science MIS or related field strongly preferred.
• Previous shipboard or hotel/hospitality IT experience preferred.

Contract:

• 6:2 (6 months onboard followed by 2 months of vacation)
• Single cabin
