This is a remote position.

Full Court Press Communications works with foundations nonprofits advocacy coalitions government agencies missionminded businesses and more. We help these organizations communicate about their social change initiatives including campaigns on the environment climate change healthcare housing and homelessness. We pride ourselves on being:

  • Social change focused. We work primarily with organizations that are working on important social issues from the environment to affordable housing

What You ll Do

As a Communications Counselor you ll primarily focus on environmental and land conservation campaigns. You ll have the opportunity to work on projects aimed at protecting millions of acres of public lands and rivers addressing the climate crisis and highlighting the need for all Californians to be able to access and enjoy the outdoors. On a daytoday basis you ll:

  • Write a TON of content from messaging materials to press releases to opeds to memos to social media content. We ll look to you to translate complex policy ideas into easytounderstand communications materials.

  • Provide strategic counsel to our clients and contribute to planning documents that map out communications strategies. Together with senior staff you ll help our clients wrestle with communication opportunities and challenges.

  • Work on client projects from start to finish be responsive to ongoing requests and consistently deliver great results for our clients. You ll support the facilitation of client calls and meetings and track action items with great attention to detail.

  • Get stuff done for our clients everyday from calling reporters to running social media ads to planning press events. We ll rely on you to keep track of what needs to be completed when it needs to get done and then make it happen.

Who You Are and Your Keys to Success

Interested in the position Here s what we re looking for:

  • You re an excellent writer and you re experienced in translating complex ideas into concise and easily understood content.

  • You ve likely had several years of experience in a communications role for a nonprofit advocacy organization public relations firm elected official or political campaign.

  • You ve managed social media platforms and understand how to create content for a variety of channels.

  • You ve contributed to an organization getting media coverage by doing outreach to reporters or supporting planning for a press event.

  • You ve supported the creation of some sort of planning document: a social media strategy a roadmap for putting on an event or other relevant activity.

  • You have experience working independently and under short deadlines and bouncing quickly from task to task without missing a beat.


If You Were Here Right Now You Would Be


  • Drafting a press release announcing new support for the effort to designate national monuments in California.

  • Writing an oped on the importance of protecting 30% of California s lands and coastal waters by 2030.

  • Pitching a story to reporters on how California s state parks are impacted by climate change.

  • Creating a social media toolkit highlighting the opportunity to protect public lands in the California Desert.

  • Tracking media coverage for clients and compiling weekly and monthly reports.

What Else Should You Know

  • This is a fulltime salaried position. The compensation for this position is $70000 $80000 annually.

  • Candidates should expect to work during our office hours (9 a.m. 6 p.m. PT). Occasional night weekend and travel for client events may be required.

  • We will accept applications from anywhere within California. Priority will be given to Bay Areabased candidates.

  • For candidates outside of the Bay Area periodic travel to the area will be required (approximately 35 times/year).

  • New employees will be provided with a laptop and other work setup items.

  • We contribute up to $300/month to companysponsored health care plans for employees.

  • We match employee 401(k) contributions up to 6%.

  • We offer 15 days annually of Paid Time Off. After 5 years at the company employees increase to 20 days annually of Paid Time Off. We also offer 9 paid holidays throughout the year.

  • In addition to strong management and onthejob learning we offer an annual $250 professional development stipend to each employee.
