Salary: Starting at 32000 (increased to 42k 44k with additional payments for night shifts and weekends)

Working Hours: Fulltime; flexibility required including nights weekends and occasional travel.

Reports to: National Installations Manager

In this role you will lead a dedicated team of approximately five professionals overseeing the preparation and onsite installation of temporary traffic lights. Beyond ensuring the timely completion of projects your responsibilities will extend to effective team management emphasizing preparedness and upholding rigorous Health and Safety standards. As a Traffic Light Installations Supervisor youll play a vital role in our Urban64 division overseeing the strategic placement of concrete blocks and 7m posts to facilitate the installation of temporary traffic signals. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the seamless installation of temporary traffic signals onto these posts creating a reliable and adaptable traffic control system. This involves precision cabling at a height of 7m skilfully connected back to a central controller. Your handson leadership will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of these installations contributing to the effective management of urban traffic flow and safety.

The supervisor role demands a unique skill set. Punctuality is paramount ensuring timely project execution and team readiness. Youll be a decisionmaking expert entrusted with critical choices in onsite activities team coordination and safety assessments. The ability to remain calm under pressure is nonnegotiable steering the team through unforeseen challenges while maintaining composure. Your role involves leadership in a dynamic environment motivating and guiding a team of professionals making punctuality decisive action and composure under pressure key attributes we seek in the ideal candidate. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and onsite delivery of Urban64 traffic light installations.
  • Manage a team of around five people ensuring they are suitably prepared & trained for onsite work.
  • Prioritize Health and Safety procedures to ensure the safety of the team clients and the public.
  • Report and manage near misses to prevent potential accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with company risk assessments method statements and COSHH assessments.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Coordinate and use all installations equipment maintaining accurate stock records.
  • Complete quality checks on work carried out by the installation teams promoting a Right First Time culture.
  • Provide updates to clients and ensure all mandatory information and reports are submitted promptly.
  • Represent the company professionally and demonstrate discretion with confidential information.
  • Supervise the development and training of new starters and less experienced installers.
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance and organization of the depot yard. Ensure that all equipment and vehicles are stored appropriately and the yard is wellmaintained for efficient operations.
  • Support Regional and escalation managers in decisionmaking by communicating onsite considerations effectively.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure high serviceability and cleanliness.
  • Oversee and implement housekeeping standards at the depot ensuring a clean and organized workspace. Promote a culture of cleanliness and organization among the team.
  • Effectively manage and monitor the stock of equipment and materials used for installations. Ensure accurate records are maintained and stock levels are replenished as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the National Manager.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics.
  • City and Guilds qualification or equivalent in highways installations.
  • Sector 8 Accreditation Health and Safety qualifications (NRSWA G39 and ECS).
  • IT literate.
  • IPAF Trained.
  • Hold an NPOR competency card.
  • SSSTS Qualified (mandatory within 6 months of employment).
  • CSCS cardholder.

Essential Experience:

  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Full driving license with no more than three points.
  • 80/20 split between site and depot work.
  • Supervision of onsite works.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Competent in driving company vans and pickups up to 3.5 Ton.
  • Competent in towing a trailer with loaded plant equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and activities.
  • Ability to switch between tasks/projects.
  • Ability to effectively influence onsite work activities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of traffic signals theory (phases/stages/detection).
  • Experience in a Highways environment.
  • Basic knowledge of traffic light installations.
