Program Manager: Roles and Responsibilities (Active Security Clearance)

This document builds upon the general program manager roles and responsibilities adding specific requirements and considerations for individuals holding an active security clearance.

Overall Objective: To ensure the successful execution of a classified program delivering its benefits within budget scope and time constraints while achieving the programs strategic goals while adhering to all security regulations and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Security Management:
  • Implement and maintain programspecific security protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to security vulnerabilities within the program.
  • Ensure team members possess the appropriate security clearances and training.
  • Safeguard classified information and control access to sensitive data.
  • Report and manage security incidents effectively.
• Compliance:
  • Ensure program activities comply with all relevant security regulations (e.g. National Industrial Security Program Standards (NISP) International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)).
  • Understand and adhere to specific clearance levels and compartmentalization restrictions.
  • Collaborate with security specialists and government agencies as needed.
  • Participate in security audits and investigations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• In addition to the general program manager skills and qualifications the following are essential for this role:
  • Understanding of security classification levels and compartmentalization limitations.
  • Familiarity with relevant security regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of secure communication protocols and data handling practices.
  • Experience working in secure environments and handling classified information.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate security risks within the program context.
  • High degree of discretion and trustworthiness.

Note: This role requires an active security clearance at a level appropriate for the programs classification level.
