Job Title: Nurse Manager OR

Work Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am 5:00 pm
Salary Range: USD $177900 $220000 / yr
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage operations of 24hour departments across multiple locations.
- Ensure Assistants and staff provide the highest quality of care and comply with the Nursing Practice Act The Joint Commission federal state and local requirements.
- Establish implement and maintain patient care and service standards to meet members and internal clients expectations.
- Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results.
- Develop and monitor budgets identify costsaving strategies and improve the quality of care/service.
- Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes for screening interviewing hiring training and maintaining staff competency.
- Oversee and develop standards of care and practice fiscal management and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum four (4) years of clinical nursing experience related to the clinical area of specialization including four (4) years of management supervisory or leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN program.
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Leadership Experience will be permissible for internal applicants only and is defined by the following criteria: demonstrated clinical nursing leadership as a Charge/Senior RN participation on professional committees inclusive of UBTs National Certification in Specialty demonstrated completion of RN Leadership Development Program and/or demonstrated experiential exposure to Nursing Leadership.
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act The Joint Commission and other local state federal regulations.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
- ACLS or PALS certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
- National Certification preferred within 1 year of hire.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of management experience preferred.
- One (1) year of Magnet/shared governance experience preferred.
- One (1) year of managing in a bargaining environment preferred.
- Masters degree preferred.
NonNegotiable Requirements:
- MUST HAVE CURRENT CA RN LICENSE (not temporary).
- Must have BSN or higher.
- Must have experience in the last 5 years as an OR RN (must have some inpatient OR experience not just ambulatory surgery).
- Must have 35 years as an Assistant Nurse Manager or four years exp as Dept. manager.
NicetoHave Skills:
- Prefer advanced education at MSN or MHA or MBA level and/or CNOR designation.
- Experience with scheduling teams helpful.
- Strong preference for experience in a union environment.
- Must be calm under pressure a strong communicator and able to train newer nurses.
