Job Description

  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may also be assigned.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Schedules repair maintenance and installation of machines tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines tools or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat steam electric power gas or air required for operations.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Reviews production quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plans develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Requisitions tools equipment and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs training and supervises workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Confers with management engineering and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school; or six months to oneyear related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Five to ten years of manufacturing experience.
  • Journeymanlevel familiarity in least one maintenance competency (electrician or mechanical.)
  • Occasional travel for technical skills training and other professional development opportunities.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another person.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces and wear a respirator.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions for short periods. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat or cold.
  • The employee must be able to operate a computer and other office equipment; must be able to traverse the office and production floors.
  • While performing the duties of this Job the employee may work around moving mechanical parts at elevated heights where dusts and fumes could be present in the air with or in proximity to chemicals in hot environments around electrical equipment and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks including by following all prescribed safety rules and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if necessary.
