Job Overview:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences for vocational education programs. This role involves designing developing and maintaining highquality curriculum materials and assessment tools that align with industry standards training package requirements and best practices in vocational education. The instructional designer collaborates with subject matter experts trainers and other stakeholders to craft comprehensive curriculum content that is highly engaging and enhances the skills and knowledge of students pursuing vocational qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Design and Development
o Collaborate with subject matter experts and trainers to analyse vocational education program requirements and learning objectives
o Design and develop comprehensive curriculum plans including scope and sequence learning outcomes and assessment strategies
o Create instructional materials session plans presentations assessments and multimedia resources that cater to diverse learning styles and needs
Assessment Development
o Craft a variety of assessment tools such as quizzes projects practical tasks and case studies to evaluate theoretical knowledge and practical skills o Design formative and summative assessments that align with learning objectives and industry requirements
o Develop rubrics and assessment criteria for consistent and fair evaluation of student performance
Learning Experience Design:
o Apply sound instructional design principles to create learnercentred experiences that foster active engagement and critical thinking.
o Design assessments that measure both theoretical knowledge and practical skills relevant to vocational qualifications.
o Integrate technology to facilitate interactive and dynamic learning experiences.
Content Creation Support:
o Collaborate with digital content creators in creating engaging and interactive learning content using various digital tools and technologies
o Contribute to the development of multimedia elements such as videos simulations interactive modules and animations to enhance learning outcomes o Identify opportunities to customise and adapt existing learning content for different delivery mediums
Quality Assurance:
o Review and refine instructional materials and curriculum documents to ensure accuracy clarity and effectiveness in achieving learning objectives
o Conduct rigorous quality checks to identify and rectify errors inconsistencies and formatting issues in curriculum content and assessments o Ensure assessment tools meet accredited and preaccredited training regulatory and compliance requirements
Technology Integration:
o Stay abreast of emerging educational technologies and trends to enhance the design and delivery of vocational education programs o In conjunction with digital content developers ensure seamless integration across learning management systems elearning platforms and digital tools to facilitate effective learning experiences.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate closely with trainers subject matter experts and other stakeholders to gather feedback and refine instructional materials and assessment tools. o Maintain open and clear communication with team members to ensure alignment of instructional design curriculum development and assessment writing strategies.
Professional Development:
o Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed about industry trends educational methodologies and advancements in instructional design and curriculum development.
