Today Vital Voices has a staff of nearly 80 headquartered in Washington DC. Weve recently been working to dramatically scale our impact in accordance with our bold vision. In early 2022 we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Womens Leadership a 30000 sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity events and collaborations — bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the worlds greatest challenges.

1. Scale our proven investment model from 20000 to 50000 women leaders who together will positively impact the lives of one billion people.
2. Make a measurable impact on 12 of the greatest challenges as defined by the Vital Voices Global Network proving the power of collective action.

In June 2024 Vital Voices will be hosting a Global Summit in Warsaw Poland. The Summit will include 100 women from across the globe to share experiences learnings strategies tactics and practices to turn back the rise of authoritarian governments. They will answer a fundamental question: Will the world continue to backslide into authoritarianism or will we reaffirm the values of human rights and freedom for every person on the planet One thing remains clear: Women are instrumental in holding the line between democracy and the rise of authoritarianism between peace and conflict and between transparency and disinformation. Now is a critical time for these women leaders to come together in collective power for collective action.

Vital Voices is seeking a temporary (4 month) project assistant who will serve as the lead planner for the Summit. The position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of summit preparation and execution. They will be assisted by a project lead strategic lead and technical advisors. They will support in defining developing and executing the Summit. This is a challenging shortterm position that will require agility critical thinking skills strong written and verbal communication and a relentless commitment to achieving project outcomes.

Summary

The Project Assistant/Lead Planer will work directly under the supervision and guidance of the Project Lead. This is a remote position with the ability to travel to Eastern Europe for up to three weeks during the project timeline. Additional responsibilities include:

• Workplan Development and Execution: Support the development and execution of the project workplan including key milestones identification of obstacles and proposed solutions.
• Stakeholders and Engagement: Coordinate and support the identification of participants and stakeholders such as meetings and engagements invitation management logistics travel and administration.
• Communication and Coordination: Develop and write communication products for internal and external stakeholders and participants.

• Format and Design: Provide critical thinking insight and solutions to the Summit design and execution. Identify and execute formats that engage Summit participants and that are interactive.
• DE&I Commitment: Embrace and model the Vital Voices guiding principles values investment and leadership models with the goal of supporting Vital Voices organization culture and success;
• Other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in international relations or a related field plus2 years of relevant work experience required OR Graduate degree in in international relations or a related field plus1year of work experienceREQUIRED;
• Strong demonstrated experience in global womens issues;
• Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;
• Experience serving in an applicable planning or organizational conference role;
• Ability to prioritize tasks swiftly shift priorities and work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;
• Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel Word and PowerPoint) social networking tools and database software (i.e. Salesforce).
• Experience working crossfunctionally to support key objectives and to help team members

This position is a temporary fulltime remote position with a 4month duration. Domestic and international travel up to 30% may be required for the position.

The starting salary range for this nonexempt position is $43905.09 $53661.77 based on experience and ability to have broad impact early.
