Job Description

Overview

The Activity Manager is responsible for the overall smooth running of the activity and excursion programme. This person is responsible for the safety of students and staff as a Designated Safeguarding Officer. The AM will facilitate a positive and fun environment for the students.

Your role & responsibilities

  • Report to and liaise with the Programme Manager and head office in Bournemouth
  • Provide onthejob training for both Activity and Workshop Leaders upon their arrival
  • Undertake general administration including submitting weekly timesheets to head office
  • Follow a weekly rota showing activity staff duties and time off
  • Plan and organise the leisure programme in line with the weekly timetable
  • Confirm bookings for campus facilities and entrances to attractions
  • Ensure that vouchers for all attractions are filled out correctly and sent to Head Office at the time of entry
  • Promote and oversee the safety and welfare of students in all activities by ensuring adequate staffing and precautionary procedures
  • Review and update all activity risk assessments at the start of the course
  • Make sure staff understand how to use the risk assessments and check that they are signing the relevant Section B before each activity and informing students of all risks
  • Inform and regularly review appropriate accident and emergency procedures
  • Check equipment and advise on its safe usage and/or ensure campus staff are doing so
  • Ensure there are clear channels of communication with the management team at centre university staff and head office
  • Be involved in all aspects of the activity programme ensuring that they operate smoothly.
  • Liaise with the Workshop and Teaching Supervision (WTS) to check the responsibilities of the Workshop leaders and ensure they are fully prepared for their workshop sessions
  • Read and follow the guidelines and rules set out in all activity staff guidelines
  • Be the face of ANGLO by wearing our uniform whilst at the same time implementing ANGLO s Ethos of care

Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer

Each centre has a Designated Safeguarding Person (DSO) who is responsible for raising awareness of and offering guidance on all matters of safeguarding including Child Protection and Prevent.
As DSP you will:
  • Liaise with the ANGLO Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Head Office whenever necessary.
  • Ensure everyone is familiar with the ANGLO Safeguarding Policy and its implementation.
  • Make sure that staff are aware of what to do if they have concerns about a child or if a child or another member of staff makes a disclosure.
  • Respond to all concerns about under 18s taking the appropriate next steps and keeping meticulous records of all reports and incidents.
  • When required verify DBS documentation when staff arrive at centre


Requirements

Essential
  • Based and eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Confident leading and motivating teams
  • Subscribed to the DBS Update Service or willing to undertake a DBS check (or foreign equivalent where applicable)
  • Able to delegate tasks to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a highpressure environment and adapt to changes at short notice
  • Approachable creative energetic and enthusiastic
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and problemsolving skills
  • Computer literate and competent with Google products (Drive Docs Sheets GMail etc)

Desirable
  • Willingness to act as a Local Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO)
  • Previous experience as an Activity Leader or Manager in a residential role
  • Experience in leading/training a sports leisure or similar team
  • Experience of working with children/teenagers in a similar environment
  • Route planning experience
  • Degree in related field
  • First aid qualification


Benefits

PAY: Weekly pay 600 650 per full week (depending on experience)
BED & BOARD: Residential position. Full bed and board
HOURS: 48 hours over 6 days a week
CONTRACT: Temporary fixed term
PREPARATION: Safeguarding training and timetabling information provided before you start.
Comprehensive training provided on arrival. Continued onthejob support given
