Position Description

The North America Leadership Journey will need to identify one consultant to serve as reviewers of the cohort members Leadership Projects (LP) hereby called the Leadership Project Reviewer (LPR).

The LPR should have deep expertise in the field of global health in North America. They should be a bold strategic thinker who has a demonstrated ability to give constructive and nuanced feedback to midcareer leaders; have a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by women in leadership positions; a track record of supporting women in leadership positions; a familiarity with program planning including assessment design implementation and MEL.

The LPR(s) role entails:

Leadership Journey:

  • As needed support the WomenLift team to refine & finalize project proposal deliverables template and feedback rubric
  • Colead a dropin Leadership Project Overview session for cohort members in April 2024 (1 hour); to be recorded and provide context on the Leadership Project purpose and overall vision with brief presentation and help cohort members refine their project idea.
  • Colead two dropin sessions on Leadership Project deliverables for cohort members in June 2024 (1.5 hours each) to provide context on the Leadership Project deliverables and continue helping cohort members developing their idea or implementation plan.
  • Review provide feedback and comment on the Leadership Project Deliverables of 30 cohort members
  • Each project proposal should take approximately on average 1.52 hours (but can range from 14 hours) to review/complete feedback form depending on complexity of project
  • Review entails:
  • Providing feedback/notes on scope of the project (ensure projects meet criteria/scale of project)
  • Suggesting other potential stakeholders to consider
  • Proposing potential resources including publications (peerreviewed as well as gray literature) and websites related to each leadership project
  • Proposing potential organizations & resources they can seek to support their leadership project
  • Identifying commonalities with the projects of other cohort members and proposing exchange of information with other cohort members with similar leadership projects
  • Lead a dropin Debrief with the individual cohort in August (1 hour) for the women in the Leadership Journey after the review of their LP deliverables to further discuss feedback given on projects

Onboarding:

  • Attend the Leadership Journey Welcome Orientation (2.5 hours) or watch the meeting recording
  • Meet with North America Program Lead & Director for Leadership Project Reviewer Orientation (1 hour)

WrapUp:

  • Attend a 1hour debrief meeting with Leadership Project Reviewers to discuss reflections feedback and future improvements

Skills

  • Experience in the global health field in North America ideally experience in diverse sectors: public health policy practice and/or research (your work has interacted with populations at the national or multinational level and may include practicing public health in hospitals and health centers producing research and innovation creating or implementing policy and managing teams/departments or projects/grants
  • Experience in gender equality or womens leadership work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Highly desired: A strong understanding of the global health landscape; and how key players in global health interact with the country/region.

Timeline

The Journey will begin in March with the bulk of the work in July. This role ideally begins about a month before the Journey begins in order to provide time for onboarding.
