Clinical Lab Technologist - Hematology Lab

• Execute routine and emergency tests on blood serum spinal fluid and other body fluids utilizing both automated and manual equipment based on the specific procedure.
  
• Vigilantly monitor specimens to ensure timely completion of work.
  
• Conduct thorough reviews of data before release promptly reporting any panic abnormal or critical values.
  
• Manage quality control data resolving any failures and meticulously documenting actions as per laboratory procedures.
  
• Take charge of reagent preparation inventory management and advise the supervisor as needed.
  
• Maintain comprehensive records of work performed and equipment maintenance logs.
  
• Assist with telephone inquiries and perform order entry in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) as necessary.
  
• Assume individual responsibility for a laboratory unit and provide leadership for technicians when required.
  
• Contribute to the training of new employees.
  
• Uphold a clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
  
• Undertake other laboratoryrelated tasks under the direction of a supervisor as needed.
  

Requirements

• Minimum requirement of a Bachelor s degree in a physical science with a preference for medical technology.
  
• Possession of a New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License
  
• Proficiency in operating laboratory and hospital information system computers a variety of automated equipment and other laboratory tools is essential.
