A Care Assistant also known as a Healthcare Assistant or Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals who require help with their daily activities due to illness disability or old age. The specific job duties can vary depending on the setting such as a hospital nursing home or home care.
Requirements
Personal Care:
Assist with bathing dressing grooming and toileting.
Help individuals with mobility including transfers and positioning.
Medication Assistance:
- Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of a nurse or healthcare professional.
- Monitor and record medication intake.

Daily Living Support:
- Support individuals in meal preparation and feeding.
- Assist with household tasks such as cleaning laundry and grocery shopping.
- Support individuals in meal preparation and feeding.
Emotional Support:
- Provide companionship and engage in conversation with individuals.
- Offer emotional support and encouragement.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and uptodate records of care provided.
- Document any significant observations or incidents.
Safety and Infection Control: - Ensure a safe and clean environment for individuals.
- Follow infection control protocols.
- Provide companionship and engage in conversation with individuals.
