Position Description
The IDEAL School of Manhattan currently seeks a high-energy, passionate educator to work as an Assistant Kindergarten Teacher in an inclusion school.
This person will work directly with the lead teacher and must have a strong ability to collaborate and follow the design of the established class routines. The ability to design, differentiate, and modify the curriculum with support, and the skills to implement creative support strategies are required. The Assistant Teacher may lead whole group instruction and will lead small group instruction daily. Experience with behavior management is required. This is a leave replacement position through June 2023.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working as a member of the Lower School classroom teaching team in an inclusive setting to plan and differentiate curriculum, establish classroom routines, and support all students
Collaborating and following the design of the established classroom curriculum, as well as creating and implementing individual goals for students in the class
Partnering with the lead teachers, therapists, and additional professionals on the implementation of support strategies for students across settings
Creating differentiated lessons and materials to support students access to the curriculum
Implementing modified behavior plans and behavior management as needed
Communicating proactively with families
Attending and contributing to Parent-Teacher conferences
Attending scheduled school events
Utilizing specific instructional techniques to meet individual student needs
Supporting the school by contributing to an aspect of school life determined in coordination with the division head and lead teachers
Providing support for Activities of Daily Living, as needed

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A desire to make a difference in the school--to contribute time and talent outside of the classroom to the growth of students and the school
