The Markets Operations AVP is an intermediate level position responsible for overseeing the processing of orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations and Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to facilitate the clearance, settlement and investigation of client FX, MM, Securities and Derivatives transactions.
Responsibilities:
Resolve complex process problems which require an in-depth evaluation of basic FX, MM, Securities and Derivatives processing procedures and industry standards
Ensure strict compliance with legal, regulatory policies, bank policies, procedures, accounting and reporting requirements.
Offer advanced solutions for assigned FX, MM, Securities and Derivatives processing areas
Provide guidance and assistance to junior staff
Supervise all exception items in NOSTRO accounts, ensure that they are promptly investigated and that timely follow-ups are done with the defaulting parties. When required, escalate to the Unit Head for further escalation to the country O&T Heads and Markets Operations Senior Management.
Serve as analytical or procedural expert for FX, MM, Securities and Derivatives processing deliverables/initiatives
Supervise monthly/quarterly proof of General Ledger accounts for manual entries posting and ensure the accuracy of automated General Ledgers.
Be well conversant with departmental procedures, MIS and reporting & governance activities.
Assist with the exploration and development of new automated solutions for existing manual controls.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Perform the Managers Control Assessment testing and submit the results in Citirisk system on monthly, quarterly, semiannually and annual basis.
Address queries and ensure quick and timely resolution of customer (internal and external) cases with respect to all products and processes handles by the unit.
Perform quality assurance reviews, report operational risk events, and document the preventive actions in the unit's procedures.
Participate and lead system implementation projects as well as system enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant experience
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree /University degree or equivalent experience
Masters Degree preferred.
