Certified Surgical Tech CST

Serendipity Staffing Solutions is looking for certified surgical technicians who can operate within the intraoperative phase of patient care to facilitate surgical procedures under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This role supports the surgical team by utilizing equipment and instruments to ensure a secure operating room environment along with the availability and proper functioning of necessary equipment.

Responsibilities:

1. Organizes the operating room based on surgical procedure schedules; sets up the sterile arrangement of instrument table supplies and equipment needed for specific procedures.

2. Ensures the functionality of surgical instruments equipment and supplies during surgical procedures.

3. Prepares the operative site by aseptically cleaning and shaving. After each case cleans the operating room and returns equipment to designated storage areas. Manages the cleaning decontamination sterilization maintenance and preparation of surgical instruments equipment and supplies for distribution.

4. Assists the surgical team in draping and positioning the patient.

5. Manages inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment instruments and supplies adhering to established policies procedures and regulatory standards. Maintains control of inventory maintenance orders supplies documents equipment use and maintains relevant records and files.

6. Adheres to infection control policies Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) recommended practices Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and other regulatory requirements to ensure a safe work environment for self colleagues and patients.

Requirements:

Proficient knowledge of infection prevention and regulatory sterilization standards.

Understanding of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic techniques.

Familiarity with human anatomy surgical procedures and implementation tools and technologies for assisting surgeons in invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills for interaction with surgical and central sterile processing team members.

Occasional exposure to chemical and radiation hazards.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an Accredited Program.

Less than 1 year of experience.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or attainment within 30 days of hire.

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT (Education must be CAAHEP accredited).
