Our client Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA Kelowna) is a large multiservice nonprofit organization dedicated to Mental Health in our community. They provide support for families and individuals through programs that promote positive mental health and support recovery while championing the elimination of barriers that can prevent people from thriving. CMHA is an innovative fast moving pragmatic compassionate organization and a leader in the social services sector. As a large multiservice organization with over 170 diverse employees and many incredible volunteers they are focused on providing quality programs and services to people who experience mental illness addictions and the impacts of longterm poverty and marginalization.

They are currently seeking a driven creative and organized passionate and experienced Director of Programs and Services to join their team in Kelowna BC and provide overall leadership and oversight to their full suite of programs and services. With the primary objective of ensuring the programs they offer are personcentered and recovery focused the successful candidate will lead the way in fulfilling the vision of a mentally healthy community by empowering people to live their best lives influencing how the community talks about mental health and enhancing their ability to thrive as an organization. Evaluation of programs goals and objectives measuring outcomes and completing associated reporting are also important components of this role.

Operationally you will provide financial leadership by assist in the preparation of the agency budget ensure critical financial information is disseminated and utilized between relevant program staff on a timely basis and will take the lead in writing program funding proposals. Ultimately you will ensure all programs and services have an operational sustainability plan that is consistent with the overall direction of the organization.


As an organization focused on their People as the successful candidate you will work alongside the Director of People Culture and Engagement to ensure that program employees are valued supported to reach their potential and respected for their diversity responsibility and creativity. With four Program Managers as direct reports you will ensure regular documented performance/progress reviews are taking place and are committed to providing direct supervision and leadership is provided.

Promoting community awareness of CMHA Kelowna by maintaining positive contact with other groups services and agencies in the community and province creating opportunities for collaboration within the community and participating on key committees and working groups will be critical to the success of this role.


As an integral part of the CMHA Kelowna leadership team you will be responsible for 4 primary areas:


Youth and Family Services

Foundry Kelowna (Integrated clinic for youth 1224 years of age and their parents/caregivers) and Foundry Wellness on Wheels mobile youth clinic


Homelessness Services

Outreach Housing First and Housing First for Youth ScatteredSite apartments Homelessness Prevention/Diversion Services Central Okanagan Rent Bank and Bright Mindz Youth Housing)


Supportive and Affordable Housing

233 units in 6 buildings


Wellness Programming

Discovery College Peer Support Wellness Development Centre Seniors Mental Health programming and the What Really Works podcast)



Requirements

As the successful candidate you will have relevant postsecondary education experience at a senior leadership level demonstrated knowledge of communitybased programs and provincial support systems and the ability to demonstrate the principles of equity diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work. Additional experience and qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and evaluating programs;
  • Demonstrated experience of successful program/project proposal writing;
  • Experience in nonprofit sector an asset;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with general public people with mental illness/participants family members funders volunteers and other community partners;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated collaborative leadership style;
  • Ability to manage budgets within operational parameters;
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to utilize relevant new technology in workplace;
  • Ability to work flexible hours evening and weekends may be required;
  • Must have own vehicle;
  • Some travel required.

They offer a competitive total compensation package; they anticipate the starting base salary for this role to range between $95000 to $115000.
