Job Description

Position Title: Intern Issue Advocacy

Reports to: Program Coordinator Issue Advocacy

Over the past 24 years we have directly invested in more than 20000 changemakers across 184 countries who in turn have improved the lives of millions of people in their communities and countries.

Today Vital Voices has a staff of nearly 80 headquartered in Washington DC. Weve recently been working to dramatically scale our impact in accordance with our bold vision. In early 2022 we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Womens Leadership a 30000 sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity events and collaborations — bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the worlds greatest challenges.

  2. Make a measurable impact on 12 of the greatest challenges as defined by the Vital Voices Global Network proving the power of collective action.

Summary

The Issue Advocacy Intern will work directly under the supervision and guidance of the Program Coordinator Tanya StockdaleMorineau. This position will be responsible for supporting Issue Advocacy programs and research needs. Preference is given for candidates based in Washington DC with the option of a hybrid work schedule.

Additional responsibilities include:

Researching and preparing program content and materials

Participating in and supporting webinars and educational sessions with program participants

Managing applications and fellow information in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software such as Salesforce

Drafting social media content and tracking social media activity related to fellowships

Supporting local domestic and international development and advocacy efforts and opportunities

Analyzing survey data and preparing reporting materials as necessary

Assisting with the logistics and implementation of local domestic and international programs

Administrative tasks are necessary

Translations of program materials as necessary

Other related duties as assigned

Professional Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or recent university graduate

Majoring in public policy political science government foreign/international affairs gender studies or other related fields

Independent workers but also team oriented and professional

Selfstarter

Interest in and knowledge of global womens issues international development climate change and/or womens leadership

Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Strong research writing analytical and editing skills

Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks

Excellent communications and digital media skills

Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel Word and PowerPoint) social networking tools and database software (i.e. Salesforce).

This position is a parttime (15 hrs/week) stipendbased position based in Washington DC with preference given to candidates who can work a hybrid work schedule.

The stipend for this 12week position is $1750 based on a 15hour work week and will be paid in 3 increments throughout the program. This role will begin on January 29th and run through April 20th 2024.
