We have provided early support for leaders who went on to become Nobel Peace Laureates US Youth Poet Laureates Prime Ministers award winning innovators and breakthrough social entrepreneurs. Over the past 24 years we have directly invested in more than 20000 changemakers across 184 countries who in turn have improved the lives of millions of people in their communities and countries.

Today Vital Voices has a staff of nearly 80 headquartered in Washington DC. Weve recently been working to dramatically scale our impact in accordance with our bold vision. In early 2022 we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Womens Leadership a 30000 sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity events and collaborations — bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the worlds greatest challenges.

Vital Voices invests in women leaders taking on the worlds greatest challenges and accelerates collective action towards an equitable and sustainable world.

  1. Scale our proven investment model from 20000 to 50000 women leaders who together will positively impact the lives of one billion people.
  2. Make a measurable impact on 12 of the greatest challenges as defined by the Vital Voices Global Network proving the power of collective action.

Summary

The Spring 2024 Leadership and Social Impact Intern will work directly under the supervision and guidance of the Program Coordinator LSI. This position will be responsible for supporting the Leadership and Social Impact (LSI) department which manages and develops holistic leadership programs to advance womens leadership and expand their social impact. The LSI team provides innovative and tailored leadership and other programming to support women and girls leadership development using the VV investment model to meet the needs of women leaders at all stages of their leadership journey.

The Leadership and Social Impact department includes the Global Ambassadors Program FortuneU.S. Department of State Global Womens Mentoring Partnership Voices that Inspire the Vital Voices Leadership Journey Grassroots Voices Bold Movers the VV Visionaries in Partnership with the Este Lauder Next Movers and new programming for high school and universityaged girls. The intern will also provide support to ongoing initiatives including training curriculum development efforts and programmatic support with corporate partners. The Intern will be assigned a portfolio of projects based on their skills and interests working alongside and learning from crossfunctional teams with leaders and peers with varying backgrounds education and experiences.

Preference is given for candidates based in Washington DC with the option of a hybrid work schedule. We will also consider remote candidates for this role.

Additional responsibilities include:

Assist with logistics and administration for international and domestic programs

Editing and preparing program content and materials

Draft articles newsletters reports and blog posts

Support program social media activities

Support program recruitment and selection

Support ongoing new business development and partnership development priorities

Contribute to data entry database management and monitoring and evaluation

Research funding opportunities and resources for womenowned businesses and organizations

Reviewing grant application and reporting materials as necessary

Administrative tasks as necessary

Other related duties as assigned

Professional Qualifications:

Majoring in Business Administration International Studies/Relations/Affairs Hospitality or other relevant fields;

Strong demonstrated interest in global womens issues;

Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;

Ability to prioritize tasks swiftly shift priorities and work in a fastpaced environment with tight deadlines sometimes under difficult or challenging circumstances;

Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;

Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and selfawareness;

Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel Word and PowerPoint) social networking tools and database software (i.e. Salesforce).

This position is a parttime/fulltime stipendbased position based in Washington DC with preference given to candidates who can work a hybrid work schedule. Remote candidates will also be considered for this role.

The stipend for this 12week position is $1750 based on a 15hour work week and $3500 based on a 30hour work week and will be paid in 3 increments throughout the program. This role will begin on January 29th and run through April 20th 2024.
